Cottage Life Monday Through Thursday

A Monday to Thursday outline of Jess’s life at the cottage.

Monday-

So thus far my life isn’t exciting enough to write entertaining things everyday.
I can only expect you to read about a morning coffee so many times πŸ™„

So until my life speeds up or something drastically fantastic occurs I will probably write a few days in one post time.

Monday was simply more cleaning and arranging.
The dining room got completely cleaned and spiderweb freed.
Moved my painting supplies into there for now so its all out of the bedroom.

Began fixing up a second hand picture frame I got, when it was all said and done it turned out to be about a 3 euro project 😏

Made an easy supper of lemon cucumber salad and spaghetti with a ready made canned tomato sauce Inge had suggested.
Very tasty and quick.

Mike and I headed out for a few groceries.
So many things you don’t think of needing till you go to make something.

Filled up the cute little new soap container (also from the second hand store.)

Im sure I made Mike a lunch too… Just don’t remember what. Probably a Nutella sandwich and a meat one of some kind.

His coworkers and he found how much meat I put on his sandwich the one day, slightly entertaining.
I told him sorry but I’m used to making a sandwich that isn’t just bread and has to give strength to a man who’s working in the canadian outdoors, not someone typing on a laptop so I’m sorry for supplying more food then you need.
Dont mock a new wifes sandwich making πŸ˜‘

Tuesday –Β

Tuesday came with relaxation.

I decided I was tired of cleaning πŸ˜‹

Kitten playing, couch testing and a general accomplishment of not very much was the main agenda.

Our washing machine got delivered and Mike installed it later that night.

Aunty Yvonne had invited us over for our monthly supper at her house so I didn’t have to prepare anything except myself.

Mike met me over at Aunties house and we enjoyed a tasty, baked Italian pasta dish she had prepared.
Mike had visited some customers during the day and they had given him a box of assorted chocolates as well as a classic Dutch form of coconut to be eaten on bread.
We each did some taste testing and finished up our visit there.

Later that evening we watched some Netflix so I could try my microwave popcorn in the correct setting πŸ˜‰
Made Mike some onion soup mix/sour cream chip dip since popcorn isn’t his thing. 🍿

Wednesday –
Mike got to sleep in a little bit and start work from home.

I decided to try a breakfast dish I had seen online.
Muffin tin breakfast omelettes.
Bread bottom, bacon wrapped around the sides, egg and cheese filled and then topped with salt and pepper.
Mikes had mushrooms too.

So, a good idea and the execution seemed to be going well… until I tried to fit it in the oven.
Turns out my muffin tin is a smidgen to large for my oven.
Mike managed to tilt and balance the tin so that his breakfast could still be tasted 😏

Ten minutes later breakfast was served and it turned out pretty decent πŸ™‚

After breakfast, Mike had to pack his stuff, grab the wrap I had prepared (with a medium amount of meat) and head off to Belgium with his boss. He would be gone for the night and following day, so my first night alone in Europe.

Worked on cleaning up the main bathroom and the pantry.
The pantry was like most, damp, smelly and a little on the scary side.
Not anymore 😎

As a reward for finishing those rooms I had a private tasting of the chocolates.
Poured myself a coffee and sat down to feel like a professional critic.

It was enjoyable, the simple things in life 😘

Oma and Opa De Jong stopped by for a visit that evening.
They brought our little freezer and two kitchen chairs we hadn’t been able to fit in our car.
We had coffee and visited for a bit before they headed over to aunty Yvonne’s to get some visiting time in there too.
It was nice 😊

Dark came and the curtains had to be closed.
Im perfectly ok with being home alone, but I WILL NOT leave windows uncovered.
The kittens and I chilled in the living room, they played and I finally got a chance to paint a little β˜ΊοΈπŸ—’πŸ–ŒπŸŽ¨

Thursday –
I arose slowly and cleaned up some dishes, the room, clothes etc.

Mom had a chance to FaceTime so I called and chatted with her for sometime.
Got to show her the house a little more and then talked a bit longer while getting some potatoes ready for supper.
Mike got home around 4:00.
He put Diesel up for sale online πŸ™
I love the kittens but two cats is to many to have inside and deal with so its time to say goodbye to him before we all get even more attached.

Supper was a first time thing for me tonight, steaks.
Mike said it smelt like a steakhouse so they would probably taste good. The steak was accompanied by fried, seasoned potatoes and a garlic, mushroom/wine sauce made in the steak drippings as well as toasted french bread topped with pesto, tomato, mozzarella and balsamic vinegar.
Drink of choice was an aged… apple juice 😜

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
