Acorns And Cinnamon Bun Cake

Wednesday to Thursday

Wednesday –

Went for a walk to the mailbox with Fiji … He’s really not seeming to keen on the outdoors 😜

After we put the retrieved mail inside, we popped back outside to momentarily look for acorns.
( Something I never seen back home. )
So we got some acorns and I cleaned them up to dry inside, Pinterest shall be searched for inspiration on what to do with them πŸ˜‰

Did a little more painting throughout the afternoon and the odd tidying up.

Stuffed peppers were on the menu for supper, so got the preparations going for those.
Mike had frozen the burger all in one chunk so I had to wait some time for it to thaw enough to pry apart 😜

Fried burger and seasonings, onion, garlic, rice, diced tomatoes and chopped green jalapeΓ±os made up the filling for the peppers, then topped with cheese.

After that was done, I couldn’t think of a very good side to go with, so I figured I’d make up for lack of dishes by having a dessert ready πŸ˜‰

Found a cool little site called “Tip Hero” that has lots of quick, easy recipes so It was time to try one of them and see for myself how easy it was.
A pull apart, cinnamon bun style cake took shape (quickly) and turned out rather nicely.
It wasn’t as moist as I wanted so I made up a sauce of brown sugar, maple syrup and cream cheese to pour over top.
Mike loved it.. I didn’t mind it too much either 😏

We had to go over to aunt Yvonne’s so she could show us the plants that needed watering while she was away etc.
Really hoping we don’t kill them all 😬

Thursday –

It was a sunny day ☺️

And I remember zero of what I did!
That’s why I really need to get in the habit of writing a little more often…

Honestly though… Not remembering what I did probably means I had a lazy day of drinking hotchocolate (out of a Starbucks cup Mike owns, not going and buying a bunch 😜 ) and watching heartland 😁
A simple dinner of chicken, rice and bread made up supper as I wanted to use up the stuff in the fridge before our weekend away.

Finished off the cinnamon bun dessert (so it wouldn’t go bad over the weekend of course πŸ˜‰ )

Mikes been doing fairly well at giving foot rubs. Foot Rubs and massages aren’t something he grew up with… But it is something I grew up with and I think everyone should experience it 😍
His feet are extremely ticklish so it’s not my fault I can’t give him one back 😜
He’s doing good… Lotion is on the list of what we need now πŸ˜‰

Packed up for the weekend ahead and hit the hay a little earlier than normal as we had to be up and at er by 5:40 a.m.

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
