Friday 11th –
Morning was started with a warm Nutella crepe, finished off with a dusting of icing sugar.
Mike worked this Friday to make up for the Monday he had missed because we were flying back from Gran Canaria.
( While writing this I just spotted my first Dutch squirrel … they are very similar to Canadian ones… to be specific though, they are more red.)
I’ve been planning on making sugar cookies for a while but every time I go to actually do it, I am still missing something to actually carry out the task.
It was a cookie pan I was lacking today… and a rolling-pin.
So that will be put on hold yet again.
The Mail check proved fruitless but Fiji is learning the path there rather well 😋
I made a smoothie to go along with our meal, the first smoothie thus far.
Supper was a salad with cranberries, cheese, pine nuts and grilled chicken.
Finished off with a vinaigrette dressing.
Going healthy for the first night too 😜
We then went next door to water Aunt Yvonne’s plants.
They seem to be surviving our nurturing ( or lack of ) so far.
I borrowed a rolling-pin from her house, so perhaps the cookies will get done before December has come and gone.
Saturday 12th –
After sleeping in a little I got up and straightened up the house.
Mike made up bowls of yogurt and granola for us once he got out of bed.
He called to book a test drive of the Audi we had looked at and then told me I had to be ready to go in less than an hour.
Even though it’s Saturday… the day we should lounge in pj’s and relax and not go to town.
Yes I know that’s pretty much my everyday life but it’s not his, is it so wrong I want to share such life enjoyments with him? 😃
But no, he wants to go test drive a car and visit his boss.🙄
So off we went.
The car drove nicely, according to him… as a passenger I did feel the same urge to sleep as usual, so I guess that means it was nice for me too 😏 The best part of the test drive though? Seeing a Lamborghini driving right behind us. Those are a true form of beauty. 😍❤️
Mike may have driven around the roundabout more than once in order to drive right behind it for my sake 😉
We also went past Mikes workplace so I could see where it was he goes everyday.
Back at the cottage John, Inge and Lisanne were waiting for us.
They wanted to drop off the frozen fruit we had forgotten in their freezer and have a small visit.
Lisanne wanted to spend the night so the first sleepover happened.
Candy snacking, cookie baking, pizza and pop supper, movie night… You could say chances are good we will be liked as an Uncle and Aunt duo 😝
Sunday 13th –
Got myself ready and then made some scrambled eggs for Mike and I, Lisanne opted for vla and granola.
Vla is a Dutch thing, its like a mx between vanilla pudding and yogurt.
Sarah actually brought us sandwiches for lunch from a store near their house.
She was going to get me more of the cheese, poppy-seed bread I mentioned before but turns out they only make that during the week, not the weekend 😒
We visited with the people at church for a while and then headed back to the cottage.
A nap was calling me loudly so I was polite and answered.
Mike woke me up and stated that I couldn’t sleep more because I wouldn’t sleep tonight and because he wanted to get McDonald’s 😏 (So did I.)
So we popped into a grocery store for a couple of items and then went to dine at the golden arches.
Back at home we finally had a schedule that matched mom and dads for a chance to FaceTime! We talked with them for a decent amount of time… I think we said bye around 1:30 a.m. our time, Mike was a good sport even though he had to wake up early for work 😘 It was nice to see and hear them 💗
It was nice to be able to see and talk via facetime 😎 Miss you both😘
