Belgium Bound Yet Again

Wednesday 13th –

Belgium bound once again!

Left the house by 8:30 a.m.
Grabbed a coffee and hot chocolate at one of the fairly rare, drive throughs.
(Besides McDonald’s there are hardly any drive throughs available here.)
The large was requested… And with reason as their sizes here are also very different then at home 😏

If they ever seen a Timmies XL cup they would probably drown just by looking at it! 😜

Driving for Mike, sleeping for me.
Customer visiting for Mike, sleeping for me…
Business trips are just SO thrilling 😏
He convinced me to come this time but next time I doubt it’ll be so easy 😎

After he was fiiiiiinally done work we headed to the bed and breakfast he has secured for us.
He wanted to take a small side road “because I like going on the untaken ones sometimes Jess”… Never mind that it was small and muddy and unused 😏
Needless to say we got “almost” stuck in the middle of the country side.
I say almost because we were, but prayer is stronger than mud πŸ˜‹

Getting out of there and back to the MAIN road that people use, we made it to the bed and breakfast.
It looked like it used to be an old French stable with a courtyard inside that had been redone, and nicely so!

Our “room” was almost bigger then our house, no joke. It had a dining area, sitting room, bedroom, bathroom and master bathroom.

We were in the part of French part Belgium near the border now so our host spoke mostly French but Mike and he managed to communicate enough to find out directions of where we should go to eat πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Once in town we found the Italian restaurant suggested to us and sat down to enjoy a much desired meal.
They brought out bread and olives to start off with and we enjoyed the breadπŸ˜‰
We then got a mozza fondue with red sauce and more bread to dip in it.
It was delicious.
Next came out meals, I had a penne pasta with four cheese sauce and Mike had a steak and fries.
I’m glad we had the mozza appetizer 😏

Supper enjoyed and done with we went back to our room.
But not for long because Mike discovered he forgot his phone at the restaurant.
He went back to get it but I stayed at the room and got settled in bed with some coffee and blankets.

Luckily they still had his phone and it was in only a few minutes away.

Mike came back and enjoyed using the jacuzzi tub to rest his work wearied bones 😏

Thursday 14th –

One customer had to be seen and one store stopped at to buy a product for testing purposes before heading back towards the cottage.

No more work trips for me for sure.
Way to much waiting in the car.
Sorry honey 😏

Back in Zwolle we went to the IND building so I could get the stamp in my passport allowing me to stay one year on the work and student program available between Canada and Holland only.
Easy peasy.. Drop the papers, take a photo, leave a fingerprint, get the stamp.
Why is it so easy to do that here but not to get papers for Canada ?
Maybe they should learn at least one thing from the Dutch πŸ˜‰

Finally back to the cottage we went.
Upon getting there and checking the mail, my much awaited and anticipated package from home had finally arrived! ☺️❀️

Mike worked some more from home to finish off the his day and I stretched out unconfined by car seats and doors 😜

Mike didn’t want to eat anything I offered to make him so he decided to fry up some frozen, breaded mozza he had made for when Josh and Pro came😏 I made sure he left enough for them to try πŸ˜‰
He added some blackened chicken and tomato sauce and that completed our tasty meal 😊

Before bed I had to curl my hair in preparation for the wedding the next day.
Which was three hours away and starting at 12:30. 😬

That accomplished, bed was calling.

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
