‘And Now The News At Noon… Followed By, A Valentines Day Special’Β

Monday 8th –

The house needed cleaning so it was cleaned.
I love the smell of my swiffer cleaning thingies so that pretty much makes it feel like a joy instead of a job 😜
That may not be a really healthy thing now that I think of it πŸ€”

It was insanely windy … gusting up to 112 km during the night and only slightly less breezy throughout the day.

Gosh all I’m telling you poor people about is the weather and cleaning products.
I sound like a lame tv commercial or something.

Painted a valentines card for Mike and some other odds and ends for the fun of it.

Supper as always seems to be the biggest accomplishment of the day. Salmon sliders with a creamy avocado sauce, lemon cucumber salad, fried mushrooms and rice. Oh, and a smoothie.

It was all alright but somehow the salmon got super salty πŸ˜’
Tuesday 9th –

Toasted sugar bread with butter and coffee enjoyed in my coffee cup from Ireland, has become a morning staple ☺️

After that lovely little start it was time to chop chop!
Literally.

This day was to be our Valentine’s Day so we could celebrate it more fully then we could have if we did it on the correct day, Sunday.
Also it just so happened to be our four-month anniversary so it seemed like a good day swap.

Anyways, back to the chopping.
Strawberries, bananas, mangos and apples were all ready for the first use of the fondue pot.

But it’s silly to think you can survive off of chocolate covered fruit right? πŸ˜‹
So cheese, peppers, cucumbers, lunch meat and veggie dip were prepared also.

The fondue cord is short and we like eating in the living room so stuff had to get moved around and so it happened that a mattress covered in pillows ended up on the floor, perfectly positioned for optimal food reach and movie viewingπŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

( After trying it out, I told Mike I wouldn’t mind a room floored in mattresses and pillows happening sometime in our home owning experience. Preferably with a minnie fridge and laptop too. πŸ˜‹πŸ‘ŒπŸ» )

I guessed that as a still newly married couple my husband probably didn’t appreciate the whole “bed head and not totally cute pjs” look that he gets home to almost every day… So a little extra effort was made and ta-da, a sane looking person showed up in my usual place 😜

Mike got back from work and we took the ‘troublesome, but someone’s gotta do it’ task of figuring out what goes best with chocolate fondue.
I still think strawberries are the best with chocolate and apple slices best with peanut butter dip (just peanut butter and icing sugar).
Mike ate it all so I can’t honestly say what he liked best… I suppose our research is incomplete and thus must be tried again.
The pity πŸ˜’

It was a nice date at home night ☺️

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
