Tuesday 26th –
Aunty came over late morning and we enjoyed our coffee and tea while visiting and watching the good bits of some home decorating shows 😊☕️🛋
It was decided that they would tag along with us as we got groceries in town and then we would take them to have a kibbeling lunch 🐟
Which they thoroughly enjoyed… It seems to be a better and better idea to start up a kibbeling truck when we go to Canada 😉
We stopped in at the pet store and they had a small water dweller I have never before seen for sale at the pet store.
A baby lobster!
He shouldn’t have been cute but he was and I am now rethinking my previous gold-fish thoughts 😏❤️
Miles checked out another cheese store and after some testing he happily bought more 🧀
Mike got a small hot chocolate to help warm me up in the ever dreary weather we had been experiencing for far to long.
As we left the grocery store a castle was spotted yonder.
I never noticed it before but Mike drove us by and we looked in aw and maybe a tad bit of envy upon the structure.
It is still owned and occupied so a look from the road was all we could manage but it was very nice to see and also hardly out of our way back to the cottage.
Poor mom had wanted to see a castle and there was one beside us the whole time 😔
Fiji has grown a tad heftier due to multiple weekends left inside with only food to entertain himself.
It reminded me of ‘The Princess And The Pea’ story when I seen him stretched out like this since he was on top of two mattresses 😏
Pineapple chicken, rice, green beans and garlic toast was served as supper for the four of us 🍴
Wednesday 27th –
Mike was in charge of breakfast for us all… making his by now signature sugarbread french toast🍞
I made some whipped cream to top em off and we all enjoyed the sweet start to the day.
It was also Kings Day! 👑🎉
A celebration of the kings birthday throughout Holland.
Resulting in orange decorations and dress everywhere, streets markets, food trucks and live entertainment.
The king and his family were going to make and appearance in Zwolle (the town near us) but because of that it would have been the most busy and crowed area.
Thus we headed to Utrecht.
Once we got to Utrecht, the foods were enjoyed and street side garage sales were pursued. Aunty found a variety of miniature items to add to her collection and Mike spotted an awesome chandelier, haggling the price down to 10€👌🏻😍💡
We ate some Greek, some coconut chocolate chip bites, loempias, cotton candy, poffertjes for Aunty and possibly a few other items 😁🍴
It had been forecasted to snow and be colder weather then it was at christmas time but luckily the snow held off and it only drizzled off and on momentarily🌦
Once we had finished pushing our way through crowds and seen as many road side sales as we desired, we walked our sore toes back to the bus station.
Mike drove by the former queens (the kings Grandma) castle so we could get a peek and a picture and then back to Dalfsen we went.
It was a full, long day but interesting and yielding treasures for both Aunty and I ☺️
