Saturdays Shenanigans

Saturday 30th –

Everybody slept in and enjoyed the morning in a leisurely style.

The sun was shining and Aunty and Uncle biked over with their hotel rentals.

Sharing coffee, tea and conversation, the late morning/early afternoon passed quickly.

Mike decided to go on a bike ride with them and I decided not to 😏😜

We planned on all heading into town and then having supper together once they returned.
I stayed at the house to bake a dessert for the evening, write and then get ready for town.

They all had a fun time.                                                                                                                          Exploring the surroundings, finding a small solar powered bike ferry, falling off the bikes and eventually making it back in one piece though perhaps with sorer bottoms 🚴🏼🏘 πŸ˜‹

To town we went!
We had decided to dress up a little for dinner but first we had to go into staples to get a copy of the hummingbird drawing/painting I did awhile ago.
Aunty wanted one 😊

The restaurant choices were not seeming like the right ones there in town so Mike got us a table reservation at a restaurant nearer the cottage but that meant we had more time to kill.

We did so at the second-hand store, where Aunty scored a bunch of little bikes for her collection of miniatures☺️ (Spotted by MilesπŸ˜‰πŸ‘ŒπŸ»)

We were glad we had slightly dressed up after we stepped into the entrance of the ‘Van Der Valk’ hotel/restaurant and seen the impressive decor.

We were seated and served with first rate service.

Salmon, schnitzel and chicken kebabs were the dishes chosen and enjoyed πŸ΄πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

The salmon was moist, Mikes schnitzel had a wonderful flavour, the sides were all enjoyed and the chicken was also very good according to Aunty and Miles β˜ΊοΈπŸ½πŸŸπŸ“

Over all we were quiet pleased.

Miles wanted hotel snacks so we went to the grocery store and all stocked up 😜

We passed by the chicken farm and Mike wanted to show us all how the egg shed worked πŸ“

It stunk terribly but it was interesting to see😏

Back at the cottage Aunty and Mike planned out their next days adventuring πŸ—ΊπŸ‘«πŸŽ’

I warmed up the lazy cheesecake, we engulfed it and that was that ☺️

(The tulips Aunty bought me had survived our weekend away rather well as you can see.)

You may think that we just eat like crazy and do nothing but drive places… Which is partially true πŸ˜†
But! We haaave been keeping track of some of our walking throughout and I think 16,500 to 14,000 average steps on our exploration days, allows some extra nutritional intake😜

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
