Monday 9th –
The day began by finally starting the devotional book I got from ‘ Kristin Schmucker ‘ π
The rest of the day wasn’t very productive as I was sitting outside trying to get a tan π
I did weed our little cobblestone area though and washed and hung some laundry.
Worked on writing but it’s hard to look at the laptop screen while the sun is blinding you.
My water pitcher joined me outside and I’ve actually surprised myself with the amount I’ve been able to consume… not sure if it’s really helped anything but they say it’s good for ya sooo what the heck ππ
Mike worked most of the day from the office but after he was done meeting with a customer he finished up his day from home.
I Facetimed with Pro for a while, finally catching up since the visitors were all gone and time schedules aligned.
Carbonara pasta sauce from a bag was heated, shrimp and bacon fried and bread from our Germany visit warmed.
I’m not a huge lover of shrimp (unless it’s the spicy kind my sister Becca makes πππ»)
but this time especially not as it had an extra fishy-ness about it π
We watched the movie about the story that inspired ‘Moby Dick’ and called it a night.
Tuesday 10th-
Mike was working from home… Again π
I prepared some apple slices topped with Nutella/peanut butter, hazelnuts, pecans and a drizzling of honey for a snack to have sometime throughout the day.
The internet went on the fritz right as I started an exercise video…
I take that as I sign it’s really NOT good for you π
Made a smoothie for Mike, did some cleaning, writing, instant soup eating and not much else.
Mike left for Doesburg so he could play soccer with his friends as well as get a haircut.
The internet started working again so I unwillingly finished the exercise I startedπ
Then spent my evening drinking water, eating carrots and my favourite dip, onion soup mix and sour cream.
Next to tackle was our pile up of clothes from the weekend away.
During this process I went to the kitchen where our clothes rack was stationed but as I turned I spotted an outline of a LARGE insect on one of our kitchen chairs.
Jumping back immediately and then slowly and timidly creeping forward again, I peered around the chair to have the hugest hornet I’ve ever seen come into my line of vision π±πΉ
Of course this would happen while Mike was away playing soccer π
I quickly alerted my family group chat so they’d know the danger I was facing and my oh so wise sister suggested the vacuum be used to capture the beast.
Since hiding out in the bedroom meant the bug could venture anywhere only to attack me later π¬
I got the vacuum, careful to move slowly.
The hornet had the viscous gaze of a hunter ready to kill… Circling around the chair to have me in its sights wherever I moved.
Slowly I placed the vacuum nozzle closer, afraid it would fly away before the suction could pull it in.
I was afraid our vacuum wouldn’t be strong enough for a beast such as this…
But, I prevailed!!!
The hornet began to stress, sensing its end but I swooped in with my weapon and ‘schoooop’ up the hose he went to his dusty demise!!
He made an audible ‘thump’ going into the hose as well as a tangible lump passing through my hands while he zoomed through the hose.
That may help you imagine the beasts size.
Sorry, not sorry for being overly dramatic π
Since that little escapade drained me of any strength I had left, I ate some salt and vinegar chips left from mom and then retreated to bed.
Only to have to leave bed and make chip dip for Mike who had texted and requested it be ready by 11 since he would be returning from soccer then and was hungry π
p.s.
As I was considering a title for this post a song came back to me from childhood… though funny back in the day, I felt the title was accurately describing my feelings from said evening ππ
A one eyed one horned flying purple people eater …
I hope it can’t retreat out again from said vacuum? π±
Just in case the thought didn’t cross your frightened mind yet π³π

What is that song from? I know that line, but can’t remember from where. Onion dip is also my favorite! I’m glad we can’t get it here, or I’d eat too much.

I don’t know really, I just remember my mom singing it when we were kids :p
I JUST used up the last of my stock pile of the onion soup mix required for dip BUT… I found something that seems awfully similar which will get tested out soon π
