Friday 13th –
Mike went to work cleaning up around our cottage, using the leaf blower to tidy up our cobblestone.
The trees around here drop stuff like crazy!
The one time I laid out on the lawn was cut short immensely by the constant things dropping out of the trees and onto me and I didn’t know if it was tree life or bug life.
I wondered around the yard, mostly just trying to avoid the dust Mike was creating π
Once he was done that we sat outside to enjoy the sun awhile before lacing up our runners and adding a 18 minute, 3km jog to our day.
It was exhausting, as sad as I am to actually admit that π
It was time to enjoy some good ol farmers sausage from home ππ»
With macaroni salad including dill pickles also from home, it was a meal reminiscent of Saskatchewan summer evenings indeed πβ€οΈ
Saturday 14th –
As soon as we got up I began making a drumstick cake to have ready for when Mikes aunt and uncle came over later that day.
Another dish that makes me think of summer evenings at home, either summer is hitting hard or homes on the brain… π‘π
Groceries then needed buying.
There was a sale on pasta sauces, if you bought two you got a pasta bowl free π
Mike couldn’t resist and we will now be finding new uses for pasta sauce since he wanted two bowls π
Kibbeling was the chosen meal lunch and then we had to get back to the cottage.
One thing I’ve found to be kind of cool at the grocery stores, is that from time to time they will have assorted packages of vegetables and seasonings required to make a certain dish.
This time I got a package containing an eggplant, zucchini, onion, garlic, red pepper, raisins and a package of couscous… for 4 euros!
Since I would never cook up a whole bag of eggplant, onion or couscous on their own, the package is the best way to test out new recipes without wasting a whole lot of money and produce βΊοΈ
Mikes aunt and uncle came around 4:00 and his aunt brought him one of his favourite desserts, apple cake.
Spoiled π
We spent the afternoon visiting and testing the drumstick cake.
It turned out fairly well considering I was missing more than half the normally used ingredientsπ
(Is anyone interested in the recipe? ππ½)
Good job love hearing your stories, once again your mom surprised me I had no idea she was coming
Told her I just about surprised her and flew there and was gonna come back with the girls
Your dad and uncle dale laughed said wouldn’t that be funny ,and they were not sure for who if we passed each other in the plane trying to surprise each other one of these times
Your moms task is to make poppy seed buns now
