Sunday 17th –
The weather finally took a turn from the sunshine and the day was a cloudy one with scattered rain.
I did something wrong when brewing the morning coffee and it looked like weak tea water rather than the blackened liquid gold we usually run off, so I was really disappointed in myself ππ
Checked the mail on the way out the door to church and found two parcels from momβΊοΈ They got to me within 6 days of being sent, but Emily (my niece) still hasn’t seen anything of the mail mom sent back to Sask. while she was still here visiting me! The postal service is seeming rather unpredictable π
Mike translated that morning’s service for me βͺοΈ
There had been a slight miscommunication the day before about leaving out burgers/freezing them etc. so however it happened and whoever misheard who, it ended up that nothing was taken out and ready to eat… The terror π±π
I took burger meat out to start thawing once we were back at the cottage and then I went for a nap.
I awoke to flowers in the house which Mike had found around the yard.
Taco salad was made and enjoyed (in our new bowls π).
I spent the evening writing and Mike was busy watching soccer I believe π
It was a relaxed evening with no real need to get to sleep since Mike had the next day off because of another Dutch holiday.
Monday 18th –
I made us chai tea lattes using a Nestle mix we found at the store and I really liked the flavour!
Mike made us sugarbread french toast
and he also made Fiji a breakfast omelet π
For a guy who didn’t really like the idea of a cat at first, he’s sure turned his thinking around π
What was funny though was that Fiji wouldn’t eat it π
And this is a cat that will eat anything from pizza, to avocados.
We think he was just afraid to eat because we never give him human food inside the house.
He stood away from it… sniffing and edging forward and then back again, looking at us and then back at the plate, unwilling to try eating it.
Mikes feelings were on the verge of getting hurt so we stuck Fiji and the dish outside and he ate it up within minutes.
Weird cat π
Mike set to work making us a late lunch/early supper of burgers and fries.
All while I was exercising in pretty much the same room… I’m not sure if the smell of burgers was depressing or motivating π
We headed to Schiphol airport to pick up John and Inge who were returning from their vacation in Arizona.
We took them back to their house and visited with them for the evening, hearing about their trip and looking through pictures.
That chai latte….π Sounding pretty wondrous on this super chilly day of working outside!
