Withholding The Truth No Longer !

Tuesday 14th –

Canada here I come! πŸ˜†β€οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

We left for Amsterdam around 9:30 and went to search for some runners for me before going to the airport.
My last pair was super comfy and I liked them but for whatever reason my toes started going numb when I wore them?? πŸ™„

I had no luck finding any new ones but I did realize a possible reason why like, zero people in Holland wear sandals.
It was lightly raining off and on and the cobblestone had become slick and with almost every few steps I was slipping and doing that awkward ‘I’m not falling but I nearly did so let’s just jar my whole back weirdly’ thing 😜

Because I was flying through the states there was an extra security line to go through and that meant leaving Mike two hours before the flight.

I was told there was food and such beyond the next security line but I guess I was confused and went through to many so I had no food before the 8.5 hour flight πŸ™„
Starbucks had yogurt and I figured that, plus a brownie would suffice as a pre flight snack.
Only to find out my new bank card wouldn’t work!
Having only change meant making the hard decision between tasty brownie or semi tasty yogurt that would probably sustain me better for a long flight, yogurt was sadly chosen 😜

My flight left around 3:30 and so began the lengthy hours of sitting.
I almost always fall asleep on take off and then that’s it for the rest of the flight.
The lady beside me managed to sleep the entire flight, waking whenever meals came and falling back asleep immediately after.
So jealous πŸ˜‘

It must be the kid in me but I love getting airplane meals πŸ™ˆ

Good or not, I find fun in choosing between coconut chicken or pasta 😏

Mid flight I broke down and bought 5$ wifi for messaging so I could text mom so she didn’t get suspicious of an 8 hour silence.
Though I had weaved a pretty good tale of being harshly sick, even supplying Mike a picture of me asleep in bed to send to the family chat, I still felt like she may suspect something 😎

Finalllllly landing in Minneapolis, I eventually spotted Pro, Josh and the girls waiting for me in the airport πŸ˜„
A partial family reunion!

It was originally supposed to be a 5 hour layover… which due to weather turned into a 7 hour layoverπŸ™„
My stomach was messed up due to flying and excitement, so even though I didn’t want
Chick-Fil-A then, I knew I would later so some was purchased to bring with πŸ˜‹

By the time the next flight was boarded tiredness was thankfully taking over and I fell asleep before the plane took off, and stayed asleep most of the flight πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Nathin was the secret keeper of us coming so that also made him the picker upper πŸ˜‹

We got to Nathin and Beccas house around 2 in the morning, chatted for a minute and then all went to bed.                                                                                                                                                    Trying to get a couple of hours of sleep before having to wake up at 6 to go surprise mother and father 😁

Wednesday 15th –

Since no one had known we were coming, dad was planning on picking Nathin up and heading to work by 7:00 am.

We over at Nathins woke up at 6:00, drove to a side road and snuck onto the property the back way since mom and dad have motion sensors at the drive way 😜

Josh, Pro and the girls went onto the deck and knocked on the patio door, saying loudly they wanted coffee so mom and dad would hear them from their room.

Dad popped his head out and upon seeing who it was, alerted mom.
They came out to the deck, happily greeting everyone.
Meanwhile I was hiding on the lower part of the deck and Priscilla informed them that someone else would be coming for coffee as well.
Mom and dad questioningly looked at them and then towards the driveway and then I came out.
Happy tears all around and a successful surprise was pulled off πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ˜„πŸ’•πŸ‘«πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘§πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦πŸ’πŸ»

Dad said when he heard Priscilla he thought at first that some drunk person must be knocking on the door πŸ˜‚

We went in and the silent house went from 2 to 11 and was silent no longer.
Coffee was made and passed around and it felt great to finally be all together and not have to watch what was said since the secret didn’t have to be a secret any more😁

Eventually breakfast was the next thing everyone was wanting.
No one really wants to cook for that many people short notice so I made the easy pancake dish, Becca had bacon and strawberries at her place so those were went and got and the joint effort pulled off and food was served 🍴

( Easiest way to win over the grandkids 😏)

Breakfast was eaten around 10:30 or so but with the time change, jet-lag and early morning everyone’s clocks were off πŸ˜œπŸ•°β°β²

Our arrival had kind of messed up everyone’s day.
Dad eventually went into town to grab some things for a fish fry supper.
Mom made everyone sandwiches, mom makes THE BEST sandwiches πŸ’•

(You are seeing herb and garlic creamcheese not mold 😜)
Nathin and Josh did who knows what and then they went golfing.
I had a shower and then decided a nap was needed.
Mom and Pro went for a jog and then mom somehow got Emily, Alaina and Brynlee down for naps as well πŸ˜‹

Supper was delicious😁
Dad had planned on frying fish the night before but since Nathin had made an excuse why he couldn’t be there, dad decided to cook fish the next day.

Meaning we all got to enjoy it as well 😏
Fried fish, curly fries, beans and cucumber salad was the first meal ate back home and it was amazing πŸ’•πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ˜πŸ΄πŸŸ

We were all saying poor Mike, to bad he couldn’t be here but in reality it’s probably just the food he’s most jealous of 😜

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
