Redneck Pools And Pierogi Pizza πŸ’¦πŸ•

Friday 24th –

Morning was spent preparing for the fun filled day ahead 😊

Mom made some tasty wraps for lunch.

Leah, Jess and Chase came around 1 o’clock and they brought gifts 😁

Homemade Reese’s pieces, happy looking, bright flowers and boterkoek.
Boterkoek better than any I’ve yet to have in Holland πŸ™ˆπŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Nathin was busy with yard work that morning so when Jess and Leah arrived he quickly took a group photo for us, said bye to his wife and then we kicked him off the property😜

Spencer and Chase were slightly outnumbered 8-2, but that would change come supper time when the all the guys joined us 😁

Us girls spent the afternoon soaking up the rays from our ‘pool’ and lawn chairs.
Some badminton was attempted, snacks ate and pina colada like drinks, drank πŸΈπŸΉπŸ˜‹

It was a splendid way to spend Friday πŸ’•

Once supper time drew near all the guys appeared.

Burgers, macaroni salad, chips, drinks and pleasant company to eat it all with 😊

(Not sure how moms burgers taste a billion times better than mine, when she’s the one who tells me what ingredients to use and how to make emπŸ™„)

Once the coffee and drumstick cake had settled, some games of badminton begun.

Since Pro and I aren’t specifically talented in the sports area of life, the thrill of having a good rally of the badminton ball (we use a training golf ball as a birdie replacement since it was always to windy to use a real birdie, #Sasklife) often brings too much excitement and we lose control 😁
The games were still fairly decent and much laughter and energy was spent by all πŸ˜‰πŸΈπŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Eventually the fun had to come to an end, so
goodbyes were said and kids then put to bed😜

Saturday 25th –

It was a day of mostly rest and recuperation from the previous day’s sun soaking, which is harder on a person than one may think 😏

Mom and Pro were going to exercise and I had nothing better to do and I’d feel pathetic if I didn’t join them, so I did πŸ˜‹
Jogging and weights… All just to suffer through and then feel the extreme need to stuff myself with food pretty much immediately after😏

Chicken burger was the lunch menu and it tasted splendid.
Though it really wasn’t anything special so I think it was the over exerted brain cells talkingπŸ€”

I had writing and photos to finish up and sort through and Pro had a Lego house to build Alaina😏

We took Lego very seriously growing up.
We had towns, hotels, stores, houses, stables and more.
Our Lego horses got white stickers put on them so they had stars, socks, or were of the paint horse variety.
Our stables were enclosed by fencing that boasted of thread, strategically wound on the Lego bricks to create a barbed wire fence illusion.
The houses had tile flooring, tiled and landscaped outdoor areas including pools and or outdoor showers.

Life was good in Lego town πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ˜πŸ΄πŸ’ŽπŸ’°

Awhile back mom got it into her head that the Lego needed washing, which is partially understandable.

(I do have to mention that the cleaning process meant she took apart structures we created and kept built for years and in doing so I feel like she crushed some of my childhood memories but that is besides the pointπŸ™„)

The non understandable part is that she also sorted it…by color 😳
Who color sorts Lego… Which children will be using?!

When Pro brought the Lego up to build Al’s house, she stated that the Lego was all messed up so it would be hard to find the right pieces.

Mom didn’t understand what she meant 😏😜

Dad made us ladies some Clamato drinks to enjoy whist waiting for the pierogi pizza mom had made to cook.

It turned out very nummily πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ•My uncle who lives in Ontario had made a pierogi pizza last time mom was there visiting, so it inspired her to do the same.

Yes I understand it may sound like a weird combination to some of you, maybe it’s the distant Ukrainian coming out in us 😏

That evening the rain finally came down and it was much needed after multiple days in the high 20’s. πŸŒ§β˜”οΈ

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊

  1. Colour sorted Lego makes it easier to build a colour coordinated house…which is exactly what Pro spent hours doing that afternoon. So there!😜 My burgers have a secret ingredient I neglected to tell you πŸ˜‚ Kidding πŸ™„ You’re just hungrier when you eat mine.
