S Stands For: Summer, Snakes, Soup, Shrimp And Sky

Monday July 18th –

Gramma wanted to get in another visit before Pro and the girls left and Mike was headed into town to play some tennis so we decided it was the day to do it.

We got to gramma’s and we were welcomed with the usual gramma goodness πŸ˜‰
Food, gifts, chit chat and repeat πŸ˜‹
We ended up going out to the yard to enjoy the weather and gramma had prepared two tubs of water for the girls to play in πŸ˜πŸ‘πŸ’¦

We visited there for a couple of hours and then it was time to retrieve Michiel.
Upon retrieval he was wearing a completely new outfit… leave it to him to say he’s going to play tennis and he ends up with new clothes too 😏

Back at home Dad and Alaina had went outside and Alaina came running in telling us, ‘There was a big nake outside! Papa Bob was going to get it but me jumped when me seen the big nake!’ πŸ˜‹

Papa Bob did get it… With his homemade snake killing weapon 😜🐍

That evening we ate my most favourite ever, dill and farmers sausage soup 😍

Fresh dill from the garden, potatoes, broth and farmers sausage served with cream may sound simple but it’s sometimes the most simple things that are most enjoyed πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ΅

We moved out to the deck to try to enjoy the cool of the evening while waiting for the temperature inside to drop a little.
Alaina decided to give us all pedicures, including Uncle Mike 😜

Tuesday July 19th –

Jess and Chase came over that afternoon for one last visit before Pro and the girls left.

We enjoyed the time spent together as well as the barbecued, pita/pizza things we ate for lunch πŸ˜‹πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ•

It was +30 outside so we retreated to the cool of the basement for most of the visit, wanting to be able to enjoy our coffee and the cookies Jess had brought β˜•οΈπŸͺ😎

Dad came home a little earlier then usual so he could begin the process of smoking fish, hoping Pro would be able to get it home with her without some grouchy customs personnel taking it away βœ‹πŸ»πŸ˜ βŒπŸŸ

Becca was having us all over for supper so we headed there and thoroughly enjoyed Buffalo and barbecue shrimp, along with Greek salad, bread and fries πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ€

As if we weren’t already full enough from the main meal, she had made a tasty lemon poppy seed cake and Davey crockets to finish us off with afterwords 😳

As usual the food was delicious and the hostess ever attentiveπŸ˜‰

That evening the clouds were rather interesting.
First Pro went out to take some photos, then mom, then I couldn’t resist so I followed suit and then even Alaina was asking if she could please take some pictures of the clouds πŸ˜‹

The clouds were slightly blurred so if you looked directly up at them, it almost felt like you were dizzy.

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊

  1. All the above food was scrumptiously delicious. Super glad my snake slayer was home for the appearance and disappearance. Summer skies are ever changing and make for an overflowing camera roll. Sometime perhaps we need to try and capture one in a painting perhaps.
