Wednesday July 20th –
It was a scorcher, the sun burned brightly on Wednesday.
Pleasant yet slightly awful at the same time 😜
Mike and I attempted to play some badminton but due to heat I gave up after one game😬
Smoked fish, crackers, cheese and pickles made up our snack-ish lunch and the rest of the morning/afternoon was mainly spent not moving a lot and trying to stay cool.
Mike did mix up some cement for mom though, as she wanted to make a new stepping stone with Al’s handprints.
Bryn did not get one since she either crunched up her toes or grabbed handfuls of the cement when her hand was laid in it 😏
I decided it was time to take on the task of straightening up the garage since it’s mostly my cat that makes the mess of it 😬
How one cat can have so much fur is truly beyond me.
I worked up a sweat doing that while a ‘to freshly showered to help’ Mike sat in the nice, cool basement 😏
It’s okay though as I wanted to do something to feel accomplished that day.
By the time I came and cleaned myself up, it was time to begin some preparations for supper.
It was the last meal with Pro and the girls so we invited Becca and Nathin (and of course Spencer) to join us.
I had also talked to Becca about the peanut sauté sauce from Holland, so I planned to make a meal much the same as the last one I made.
It was once again a quick retreat out to the deck for cooler weather, this time coffee and a foot rub from Mike made it even more enjoyed 😏
Thursday July 21st –
The first of the summer guests to leave was Pro and the girls.
We quickly hit the government building to pick up our new passports and then to the airport we went.
Good thing we rushed too since the check in took ridiculously long 🙄
Also ridiculous was that they no longer have the Tim Hortons or any restaurant food for that matter, available to the public that doesn’t go further on through security 😳☕️
Don’t they know people need caffeine to deal with the repercussions of awful goodbyes ?!
After goodbyes were said and last waves and kisses blown, mom and I went to meet up with Carmen and do some shopping.
I finally had the opportunity to visit ‘Soul Paper’ which is a fun little store full of, yes you guessed it, paper and all things applicable to it.
I’m a terrible notebook hoarder but never end up filling them with anything … So it wasn’t the wisest place for me to go 😬
Carmen had actually beaten us there and been a darling and got us each gifts!🎁
Once we finished paper pondering, we meandered down the street popping into ‘Anthology’, a furniture and home decor store that had me wanting to fill up the house we don’t have 😜
A little more browsing around the area and then we drove off to meet again at ‘Afghan Kabob and Donair’ for some lunch.
We had some very tasty ‘Somosa’s’ as starters and then chicken donair wraps as our main.
They were big and tasty, having pickles, peppers, lettuce and sauce mixed in with the seasoned chicken.
The donair meat wasn’t what I’m used to having as donair in Holland, when I described it to Mike he said it is what they would call a kabob.
We went our separate ways after lunch, mom and I heading to Starbucks 😁☕️👌🏻
We then went to two more home decor/furniture stores to look for some things for the upcoming renos mom would like to happen and I again found much for our non home 😋
City is tiring and we knew we would be back in again if we needed anything so we went to Costco to finish us off and tried to get home as quickly as possible.
We were rewarded from our busy day with some fresh blueberries and raspberries in a lake of cream and sugar, as Dad had taken the time to pick the blueberries for us when he was at work.
The house was quiet.
No little girls underfoot or talking our ears off with nonsense, no one asking for us to play with them… but also no annoyances 😋
A little annoyance wouldn’t have been minded😬
