An Enlightening Sunday And Preparations For Adventure

Sunday Sept 4th –

In my family it’s a tradition to leave each other notes or at least one note when we leave each other.
In saying that, I’d found none in my unpacking since I returned to Holland and though a little saddened I didn’t mention it to Mom.
She actually brought it up on Saturday, asking if I’d found any yet and it turns out there are three out there waiting for me 😁

Sunday morning I decided to wear my glasses.
I rarely do but I was wearing my hair down straight, something rarely ever done and so I figured why not throw on the glasses too.

This was waiting for me 😍

It was a rainy morning and while I was getting ready for church a suuuuper loud clap of thunder shook the room.
Once church service was over, Mike read in the news that at 10 that morning lightning struck the old church in Doesburg, their home town!
No wonder the noise had been so loud, we joked that it must have been an ‘enlightening’ service.
Yes, I’m a pun maker, deal with it😏

Got a FaceTime date in with Mom AND Dad that afternoon, which doesn’t happen too often with Dads work schedule and the time difference so that was nice πŸ’•

That evening I mixed up the lazy German pancake so it would be ready for Mike to have as breakfast the next morning but it had to be pre tested obviously 😏

Monday Sept 5th –

Vacuum the room, do some laundry, prepare some goodies for Mike and I to eat on the upcoming road trip.

I was trying a repeat of the blackberry muffin/scone things I had tried making but this time with my measuring cups so I had higher hopes for the appearance factor.
I shouldn’t have, seems like they are meant to taste decent but never get a 10 on the presentation scale 😏

But to make them, I needed more white chocolate so a trip to the store was needed.

It was my first trip/walk to a store alone.
Slightly embarrassing to admit maybe, but on the other hand why go to a store alone when you can usually do it with someone who speaks the language?
No need for such un necessary stress in my opinion 😏
But it was necessary that day, for white chocolate had to be boughten! 😜

Mixing, baking and cleaning it all up took a fair chunk of the morning and then the laundry needed hanging.
(Mike and I are looking into a dryer for when we have the apartment πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ‘•πŸ‘—πŸ”₯)

A rather pleasant aspect of the day, fellow Canadians arrived! 😊 πŸ‘
Two  Naber ladies flew in and are in Holland for a visit, bringing not only their lovely selves but also salt and vinegar chips, catalina dressing and hugs from the parents πŸ˜‰πŸ’•

Us four girls chatted a bit and then I had to begin packing 😬

Mike and I head out on a roady come Tuesday, until next Tuesday!
So I had a fair bit of choosing and narrowing down said choices to do.

That being said, I hate packing.
It feels like the moment I pack, my wardrobe shrinks significantly and I don’t remember any outfit I ever wore before, so I have no clue what belongs together or what I’ll be needing.
It’s such a draining process πŸ™„

Michiel and John returned from work and we all sat down to broccoli tart, salad and bread for a tasty supper together πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Mike and I had more packing to finish and I was trying to find some songs to download for the drive.
If anyone has suggestions of some good christian songs, please let me know!!
Song searching is another thing I don’t really enjoy doing 😬

We then visited away the evening downstairs, me relishing in knowing what every conversation was about even if I wasn’t taking part 😏

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊

  1. I thought the hiding place was a good pun for ‘see’ 😁
Not sure what I wrote on the others so when you do find them it will be a surprise for me all over again too 😝
Good job and your shopping excursion!
