Frivolous Pillows And Waxed Floors

Tuesday Oct 18th –

More errands and tasks had to be done to have everything in order at the apartment.

The car was again packed up, unloaded at the apartment and then we were back on the road, needing to go in and out of multiple stores with multiple things to accomplish.

Going around in circles to the same places for almost a week was getting old 😏

Do all girls love pillows? It seems like a girl thing to want a poofy piece of fabric that just sits there and usually gets moved away before you sit/lay.
Or maybe it’s just me, but I love pillows πŸ’•πŸ˜

I usually gather a few up during our store perusing and then put them back one by one, unable to justify the spending of money on such frivolousness.

Our main item that needed finding was a coffee table.
Not to big, not to small, not to high and not to short, open but not glass and it had to match everything else annnnd be in our budget 😏😜

Believe it or not, we did find one!
It was the last stop pretty much and we had seen the table in other stores but it was on sale at ‘Leenbakker’ so it was ours 😎

After the list was checked off, we went back to John and Inges.
Where I napped and Mike worked until his friend picked him up and they loaded up a van with all of our larger items and took them up to the apartment πŸšπŸ›πŸ–ΌπŸ“¦πŸ”§πŸ–₯🏒

I did some more packing up of the room and then we drove to Germany in search of supper.
We thought we’d try somewhere new since we always go to the same place and get the same thing.
Wrong decision… you should ALWAYS stay with the place you know is great when it comes to food 😏

We waited over a half hour for our usually easily and quickly made meals.
Other people came after us, got served and left in the time we spent just waiting for our food.

Once it did come, mine had onions all over though we asked for none and we never got the drink included with our meal.

We mentioned our disappointment while paying and were just told he forgot about our meal and that was that.
Oh and drinks were self-serve and we should have known that..πŸ™„

We unpacked the car yet again on our way back and the once clean was once again, not.

It makes me uncomfortable 😬😜

Wednesday Oct 19th –

Sarah came by for the girls and she took me to the apartment so she could see it and so I could work on unpacking while Mike worked from the office.

I began with little bits and pieces… dreading the rinsing of every dish we own before finding them homes in the cupboards.

But eventually I began and the floor could start being seen againπŸ˜‹

I was on my feet from 11- 6 unpacking and still not everything was done, but it was getting there and feeling much better (cleaner😁).

Until I was vacuuming and the cord caught the coffee table (newly assembled by me), knocked it over and in doing so spilt the candle that had been on top.
Leaving wax thoroughly imbedded in the rug and on the floor behind the couch.
Anyone know how to de-wax a thick rug?πŸ™„

So, as I was just ready to sit down and be done for the day, I instead had wax to scrape off the floor πŸ•―

Mike came to the apartment after work and he set up some things I hadn’t been able too and then we ordered in pizza.

Mike still finds it humorous how much I love having food delivered but he blames it on my childhood in the prairies, where delivery was impossible πŸ˜‹

We ate our first meal at our apartment, such a classy one too πŸ˜πŸ•

And then it was time to go to Germany for bible study.                                                                           We stayed to visit a little longer then everyone else and somehow the discussion came around to the schnitzels that Sarah makes and how much Mike loves them.                                                           I hear about them pretty often, ‘Sarah makes the beeeest schnitzel.                                                                          Sarah’s schnitzel is soon good’ etc. etc.                                                                                                       Our sister-in-law is a dear, though it was 11:00 pm, what did she do? Make him schnitzel.

Which yes, I too enjoyed immensely πŸ˜‰
After our all too late nighttime snack, we headed back to John and Inge’s for one last night before the big move.

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊

  1. A paper bag warmed by an iron (if you own one?) over the wax. It soaks into the bag as you move it. Might be tricky on the rug so start in a small area and with a low setting so you don’t melt the rug. Or start a fire 😁😘
