Scrubbing Away Stranger

Saturday Oct 22nd –

Poffertjes, courtesy of Michiel made up our Saturday mornings fare πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Annnd then it was time for me to scrub the shower.
I had been pushing it off and pushing it off.
Other people’s fridges kinda gross me out, other people’s pet hair grosses me out, but other people’s showers ??? 😬

Mike helped me mix up a strong cleaning solution and then he went out to get a haircut while I buckled down to scrub out the bathroom.

It wasn’t that dirty but it took a long time none the less.

Mike finally returned (lighter by the amount of hair chopped off I betπŸ™„ ) and he brought back loempias for us 😊

We munched those up and then I did some more box sorting before we got ready and headed to town.
Two stores and almost our entire (large) list was completed, if only it was always that easy πŸ˜‹

We had to pick up stuff from John and Inge’s (yet again) and she invited us over for supper😊

We may have moved but they haven’t had a chance to miss us yet πŸ˜‹

Once we got back to the apartment Opa and Oma came over.
Oma was excited to see the place after hearing about all the changes from Opa so we had a mini house tour and then sat down for a coffee together.

After they left, it was time to test out the new popcorn maker.

Mike found it extremely cool and wished he had something like it for chocolate πŸ˜‚
(He doesn’t like popcorn.)

We watched a movie on the comfortable couch and then called it a night.

Sunday Oct 23rd –

It was a foggy morning and when we woke up it could have seemed like we lived miles high.
The fog blocking out the surrounding buildings and highway.

We overslept due to my phone volume being to low and not hearing the alarm 😬
But somehow, 35 minutes later we were ready and on the road to church.

(In the hurry I did drop my hand mirror and break it though πŸ˜”)

We had to go through the McDonald’s drive through since we hadn’t had time for any food or coffee before leaving the apartment, but the chicken, bacon and egg breakfast sandwich was actually pretty good πŸ˜‹

Church was enjoyed and after a few minutes of visiting afterwords we left for home, having an hour-long drive back and a cat patiently waiting to be let out of his bathroom 😜

We grabbed kebab on our way through Germany and that was our much enjoyed lunch😊

A nap in the guest room occurred later on.
The sun shining through the window and warming the bed and the mattress from our old bed set made for a perfect place to drift to sleep… Our old mattress that’s more comfortable than our new one πŸ˜‹

I feel like we might end up spending equal amounts of time between the two bedrooms, perhaps it will be called the nap room instead of the guest room πŸ˜„

After the nap I began making banana chocolate chip muffins.
Mike had been begging for them since we moved and he didn’t seem to understand that I was to tired from cleaning the entire length of the days to make muffins come 10:30/11:00?πŸ™„
So Sunday he finally got them.

As previously mentioned in an older post, I had spilt wax on the rug.
I did get some helpful comments on how to remove it and I set Mike to the task.
Unfortunately he didn’t seem to hear the repeated warning of ‘low heat!’ aaaaand he melted the rug πŸ™ˆ
The burnt bits couldn’t be trimmed and he had another rug the same as the one we have, at his parents, so he decided it was a lost cause anyways so why not try cutting the rug and making it fit better in the space anyways to see if it would work.
It seems to be ok, for now πŸ˜πŸ˜‹

John, Inge, Lisanne and Jesse came over for a visit since Jesse was visiting from school and wanted to check out our new place and that was pretty much the end of anything semi exciting for that day 😏

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
