Will My Expectations Be Squashed?

Wednesday Nov 9th –

I could hardly talk due to throat issues and the first sweet words I uttered to Mike were that I needed a Kleenex.

Second words were for him to look at how Fiji was chilling by the balcony 😜

Just can’t seem to shake this germ but at least it’s only bad in the mornings and evenings.
Annnnd I can still taste coffee… it’s always so sad when your sick and don’t want coffee πŸ™„

We sat down to drink our coffees and chill for a moment while waiting for the guys to come over.
Guys being Mikes cousin and a friend visiting from the states.

They arrived shortly after 10:00 am and after about an hour of catching up and exploring the apartment, (cause seeing the whole place totally takes that long😏) they headed off to discover Amsterdam.

I stayed at the apartment and worked on the scripture verse drawing of the day, the blog and making a French toast casserole for the next day’s breakfast.

It was a pretty boring day 😏

Thursday Nov 10th –

My speech mechanisms – still slightly on the fritz…

The boys had gotten back near 1:00 am and it’s a good thing they weren’t burglars cause I heard nothing 😏

I’d prepared coffee the night before so I could start the pot brewing before the boys woke up since I didn’t know how late they’d sleep in, not thinking of the fact that the big pot shouldn’t be made and wasted until they woke upπŸ™„

Did I bang a cupboard door or two and walk not so softly in hopes of them rising sooner so I could have coffee?? πŸ€”
No, I didn’t… but I can’t say it didn’t cross my mind πŸ˜‹

They awoke soon after me though, so it was okay πŸ˜β˜•οΈ

After one cup of coffee was down they were sent out to search for syrup.
Something I’d forgotten we would require for the French toast casserole 😬

While they were out, Mike picked up our spaghetti squash!

Breakfast was eaten together and made all the better for the little, 6 euro bottle of ‘biological maple syrup’ πŸ˜‹

Not a whole lot transpired after that but after a consolation with my sister, the spaghetti squash preparation began and I hoped I hadn’t built it up in my head and was in for a huge disappointment 😳

It was a success! 😁

Baked with olive oil and seasonings and then mixed with some cheese, garlic and fresh basil after it was hallowed out, made for a lovely taste.

It was served with a pre-seasoned pork tenderloin and garlic bread.

I got some brownies and coffee ready to enjoy later in the evening when another friend of Mikes was coming over before they went out for tennis 😏

I ended the evening by drawing that day’s scripture.

I’ve been posting them on Jemstory’s Instagram with the hashtag #30daysofbiblelettering πŸ™‚ I’m kind of mortified to post my stuff alongside the others who are participating, so it’s a good thing I’m only doing it for the inspiration and structure of having a bit of a plan to follow πŸ˜‰

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
