Sputtering Nothing πŸ’¦

Tuesday Nov 15 th –

The day we forgot the water was being turned off 😬
There were notices posted around the building stating that on Tuesday, there would be no water and we took note and talked about it many times!

Only to wake up on Tuesday and go to run the water and be greeted by a sputtering nothing…

And we were out of coffee beans, so not the best morning around 😏

I heated up some milk and we had chia latte mix with some instant coffee for some sort of caffeine intake and I then settled in to write/edit pictures.

The water actually came back on around 2:00, though hot water didn’t follow until later but it was enough to feel like I could do a few things.

Like bake a lazy cheesecake 😁

You see, I don’t have a ton of dishes, so when I bake, a dish or two probably has to get rewashed and reused a few times during the baking process, thus needing water to bake.

The cheesecake turned out nicer then usual actually, the sugar and cinnamon topping becoming an even golden color over the entire thingπŸ‘ŒπŸ»

I love this super easy cheesecake, (recipe will follow πŸ˜‰) though it’s a bit on the sweet side so coffee would have been delicious with it πŸ˜•

Mike decided to go out and get some coffee for us, only to find the coffee shop closed againπŸ™ˆ
So, some other beans were purchased to hold us over and as usual he came back with more than just coffee but hey, what’s the fun in him coming back without at least one surprise 😜

Supper was steak, fried potatoes and garlic toast.

Sour cream, salt, pepper, a dash of Worcestershire, and everything bagel mix from Epicure made for a light, but still nicely flavoured dip for the potatoes 😊

I finally got mail for ME and not for the previous apartment owners!😁

A package from my sister with some lovely note paper, a cute piece of art aaaand last but not least, mini marshmallows!! πŸ˜†
Now, you’re probably thinking mini, fluffy kinda marshmallows but no, these are the baby sized/kind of crunchy ones that usually come mixed in a small amount with packaged hot chocolate.

Mikes face was one of disbelief at watching a 21 year olds excitement over…marshmallowsπŸ˜πŸ’•πŸ˜‹

Just proves that sisters know best πŸ˜‰

Wednesday Nov 16th –

Coffee and cheesecake, the perfect breakfastπŸ˜β˜•οΈπŸ΄

A little of this and a little of that filled the morning and I begin working on a bracelet order.

Mike had to go into town/was kind of sent into town by me because he had worked from the house all week and I needed some spaceπŸ™ˆ

I used that space to begin making lemon orzo soup for supper.

I love lemons and orzo noodles are one of my favourites so it sounded pretty perfect πŸ˜

Mike eventually returned and though he hadn’t been sent out to buy anything, this is how he came through the door 😜

Turns out he actually hadn’t went out and wasted our money, he had bought stuff for work and was working on creating a display with products they supply coloring too🍭🍬

Good thing too because there is no way we required that much junk 😜

Soup was heated up and cheese biscuits made.

I really liked the soup 😊
Mike thought it was a bit too sour soo I’m guessing this is a personal preference kinda meal and lemons gotta be your thing πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ‹

Mike and Fiji had their evening nap a day or two before, so it was my turn to occupy the couch and it was lovely, as most naps are πŸ˜‹

Once I awoke Mike broke open the pomelo and we enjoyed picking it apart like monkeys and maybe that’s what subconsciously inspired the movie choice of the night… ‘The legend of Tarzan’ πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜œ

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
