Saturday Dec 31st –
Not much was done of interest until around noon, when Mom made everyone wraps and Nathin and Becca returned from their weekend away and retrieved their son.
As well as bestowed gifts on us all π
Spencer’s time at Grams ended and though he was a good little guy while there, dancing to entertain us and snuggling more than the other two, him being gone meant the kid volume level decreased slightly.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather have them here then have silence, but it doesn’t mean I don’t have to take some extended trips to the basement for some ear rest ππ
I’m not child trained π
Some excitement of the sad ish sort occurred when a little chickadee hit the window and I was the one who had to do bird check and see his little feathery body laying there.
So I went and retrieved him and into a box by the patio door he went so his headache could wear off.
He was doing better and when frightened by Pro or Al or a noise or whatever, he flew out of his mostly closed box and was flying around the living room π¬π³
He perched on the living room light, until flying into the big window and damaging his already damaged little brain cells.
He calmed down and Mom managed to catch and release him and he did fly away, whether he continued after that… we won’t knowπ¬
Pro was the chef for the evening and we had the tasty makings for chicken tortillas prepared and set out for us π
Dessert was some little moussΓ© ish like things from Costco and Brynlee got most of mine, not sure if that was the wisest thing to load her up with pre watch night service but whatever π
Time eventually came to leave for church and as always it felt strange to be heading to attend a service at the late hour.
Jan 1st –
Come midnight, a service had been enjoyed and the new year welcomed in π
Something happened during the ride home of which I don’t fully recall but it resulted in Mom calling Mike a schnitzel and he abruptly asked that she NOT call him that because that was German so at least call him something Dutch if she had to… I suggested curry ketchup π
Hunger was real so it was decided we would go through the McDonald’s drive through.
We all agreed McDonald’s was not a monumental meal to start the new year with π
Though we also learnt how in some places McDonald’s is a luxury and how we take so so much for granted.
I’m not one for making New Years resolutions but it wouldn’t hurt in the least to try to be more thankful and grateful for what I’m are blessed with β€οΈ
Hope everyone had a happy and safe new years eve and day!
We got to bed around 2:00 am and slept soundly until the noise of children interrupted our sleep.
In which event we pulled the blankets over our heads and retreated back to dream land until a more acceptable hour π
We awoke just in time to eat a French toast breakfast prepared for us by Mother π
It was also Alaina’s 5th birthday πππππ
Josh and Mike actually took a turn cleaning up the kitchen and I got to test out the marker Nathin and Becca had brought me π
Since it was Alaina’s birthday and she wasn’t going to be able to play with Em till that evening we thought something of some excitement should be done.
Skating was planned for but after a weather check from Gramps it was forecasted as too windy for the un sheltered ice.
So a kind of semi sheltered little hill was found behind the house so some sledding could be done.
It was exhilarating ππβοΈπ¨
Actually it was super cold out so Bobs forecasting was correct but Alaina still liked it and it was an entertaining little outing.
Especially when Mikes pants completely split and Josh started snowboarding down the hillπ
The guys left not long after sledding was over so they could go get the machines lit as the temperatures were dropping even more and Dad would need them able to run for the next day’s work.
Mochas made by mother took the chill off and I honestly do not remember what else we did.
That’s what staying up till 2 am on a Saturday night and not having a Sunday morning service does to a person π
Supper was a serve yourself style layout of smoked fish by Bob, cheeses, grapes and pineapple, crackers and jellies πππ»π§π
Since it was Alaina’s birthday celebration as well, the guys had picked up some extra things to make it special, including flowers and a Happy New Years helium balloon ππ
We all got to enjoy her woodland cake that Grams had made special π

Alaina received a walkie talkie set form uncle Nay and Aunty Becca and she excitedly held the one handset as we explained to her what walkie talkies were for.
Finally we asked if she understood and she excitedly shook her head yes and reached into the box to see what else was inside.
Upon pulling out the other hand set she exclaimed, ‘Oh! There are twooo !!’ …. I don’t think there use had been fully understood π
Finally the first day of the new year came to an end and I think we were all more than ready for it π
Reading about Alaina’s reaction to the walkie talkie “set” was so cute π
