Friday Jan 7th –
I spent some of that morning shopping from my sisters suitcases π
I haven’t really enjoyed my shopping options in Europe and I like much from the states but shipping is extortionately pricey so I stay wearing much from my teen years π
(Dunno if I should admit that? π¬)
Since I’ll be back home in April I decided to try some of Pro’s stuff on for reference and if it works I’ll ship things to her and she get it to Mom
πππ»ππΈ
Mom whipped up multiple thin pizzas for our lunch and they were delicious πππ»β€οΈπ
Alaina requested a face painting as Grams had given her one a previous day.
This time though Uncle Mike was around, and he or Al, or maybe both, decided it would be a good idea if he did the painting instead ππ¨
He did well!
Besides listening to her color suggestions and grasping her head perhaps a tad aggressivelyπ
She was supposed to be a purple kitty… and looked more like a red monster with a green nose, but with grams help the red turned more purple and the green, magically turned pink π
The group effort paid off and Al was happy, annnd no I don’t have a photo π¬
Us kids (Pro, Mike, Al and Bryn) went downstairs to veg out in front of ‘Horton Hears A Who’ for awhile before everyone had to get ready to head over to The Naber’s for dinnerπ
They had invited just Mike, Mom, Dad and I before anyone knew of Josh and Pro and the girls coming but they graciously extended the invitation to them as well so it was a houseful, one big happy family πππ»
Supper was delicious and I ate like a thing that eats a lot.
I was going to say like a pig but do they really actually eat thaaaaat much??
Who knows.
It was a delicious meal of hash brown potatoes, corn, green bean casserole, salad and beef on a bun π½ππ»π
I think I filled my plate four times π¬
This may not have been Mike and my’s most slimming holiday π
Our evening passed in a flurry of conversations and it was lovely βΊοΈβ€οΈ
Saturday Jan 8th –
The last day at home.
It’s always a nice one but the lingering dread of the next day lays upon everyone.
(Or almost everyone π)
I blogged, Bonnie made breakfast bagels and Bob and Mike took the garbage to the dump π
The bagel was delicious, as I think most everything of Mothers is π
I did some online shopping in anticipation of our April trip already π
Becca and Spencer came over since Nathin and Josh had kicked her out of the house so they could have boy time and Mike was supposed to go join them π
Dad and Mom had jokingly mentioned that I should make perogies while I was there and I had planned too but with Josh, Pro and the girls showing up it just hadn’t happened.
But I decided as a farewell gift I could do it and one batch of perogies began taking shape.
Until Mom told me we had no potatoes for filling π
Becca said she had some so Mike brought them back to the house for us but in the waiting time I decided to concoct some dessert style perogies, blueberry ones, my favourite ππ
Once the potatoes were acquired I mixed up a triple batch of dough, Mom rolled it out and Becca, Pro, Mom and I got to work cutting, stuffing and pinching the cheesy potato filled pockets of goodness π
But not before we also realized we didn’t have any Cheese Wiz π
Something else Becca said she had back at her house π
Dad retrieved the missing ingredient that timeπ
Anyway, somehow or the other the other the perogies got made and taken to the truck so they could freeze out in the garage since the freezers were too full π
Mom made a super duper tasty supper with the partridges Nathin had shot this past fall.
Chicken Kiev… chicken breaded in crumbs and seasonings, stuffed with onion soup mix, rolled and fried πππ»
Perogies were made along with it and Pro and I got to share the three cabbage rolls Mom had left in the freezer.
We may not have lots of Ukrainian in us… but so far as I can tell we are rather pleased with their food π
Nephew and nieces were hung out with, writing worked on… packing avoided.
Be still my heart with all that small batch cooking we do π
