Doesburg day βͺοΈπ
After a quick breakfast of apples with a yogurt fruit dip ( thanks epicure – Epicure Summer Berry Dip ) it was time for us to show Zoe the town Mike grew up in.
And also to make sure loempias got testedπ
The sun was shining so it was a nice day to do some town touring, which Zoe and I did while Mike took care of some car stuff since he would be taking the Audi back to the dealership… it was going to be a tough day for him ππ
Zoe and I walked around town and it is such a nice thing to be able to express things to someone who sees the same oddities/differences that I do π
After we had browsed throughout town, Mike was finally able to join us to eatππ»
It’s also just as nice to be able to share the things I’ve found to enjoy with a friend from home, like loempias π
Once we got back to the apartment I was thrilled to have finally gotten some much awaited mail πππ»πππ
Little wee embroidery hoops!
I can’t wait to try some things out with them buuuut I feel like I should save the creating for once our beloved guest is gone and I’m bored out of my mind or something π
As previously stated, Mike had to take our Audi away due to work agreements etc.
Never to be ours again… it was a good carππ
I’ll miss the heated seats π
I had cooked veggies to make use of and so I compiled some chicken pot pie like filling to fill up little, ready made pastry bowls.
A SALAD was prepared as a side.
I know… a word I rarely or nearly never use, but it may just start appearing more often after making a very simple/tasty salad π
Strawberries, roasted pine nuts, a sweet vinaigrette dressing and the littlest croutons I’ve ever seen, made up our rabbit food.
Freshly baked cookies served as our dessert πβοΈπͺ
Thursday Feb 2nd –
Mike had bought crΓͺpes in France and that morning he decided to test them out and luckily for me he was kind enough to prepare an extra… complete with a Nutella and strawberry filling and a light powered sugar and strawberry presentation ππ
After that it was probably our laziest day yet π¬
Laziest with our guest around I mean… not of our whole life… that would be crazy π
Mike was sad because a trip to Belgium didn’t end up happening and he wasn’t going to be easily cheered up by Zoe and I so he headed to Arnhem to do errands and get out of the apartment.
Zoe and I stayed back, enjoying coffee, cookies and the couch for longer then I care to admitπ¬
Shoulder rubs were traded though and that’s worthy of ‘accomplishment’ praise I say π
The house was also cleaned and laundry done.
Well… laundry tried to be done π
For the life of us we can’t figure out our dryer.
I love having one and it does work, but the programs don’t actually have names they are just picture instructions, thus explaining not nearly enough and some days it takes almost all day for one load of clothes to be done… in the dryer.
Google will soon be visited on this matterππ€
There was some drawing, eating, writing and schooling mixed in here and there and of course the relaxed talk and comedic displays between two friends πππ»
It was time for Zoe to try nasi balls (the seasoned rice which is shaped into balls, battered and deep fried).
I began cooking the fries while Mike drove out to go get some ‘snacks’ for our supper and once he returned and we’d eaten it was official that Zoe too enjoyed that particular Dutch snack π
(Not sure if I’ve said this before but note the applesauce… a typical side to eat with fries here in The Netherlands. Try it, tell me what you thinkπππ)
Such a proud mom moment to see you adding applesauce and salad to your diet all in one post π
