Thoroughly Touristed

Thursday Feb 9th –

Not much occurred in the morning hours.

Come noon, some buffalo chicken style sandwiches were prepared using the leftover cheese fondue and they were pretty tasty if I do say so myself 😏👌🏻

The plan was to go back into Doesburg so Zoe could see one of the oldest restaurants in Europe and so I could get some art stuff.

Kuntsburg‘ was perused for a while and some little goodies picked out 😊🎨

I hate having the itch to create but not knowing what it is I want to try 😬

We left there and sat down in Stadsbierhuys De Waag, ordering hot chocolates heaped with whipped cream before heading back to Velp and bringing Zoe’s official touristing to an end.

We aren’t certain, but we are thinking we napped that afternoon 😜

Kapsalon (the Turkish fries dish) was ordered for supper and we ate it while watching the new Ben-Hur movie… both things were enjoyed 😏

Especially after we found the correct Ben-Hur and it wasn’t the pathetically made, painful to watch older version we had at first thought was the new one 😜

Mike found the movie slightly frightening during a few select scenes and in his fear he twitched too hard, causing himself to hurt his bruised rib, which caused him to jump harder, in turn making Zoe and I forget the movie and laugh at him 😏

It’s entertaining to have them both around 😜

Friday Feb 10th –

Morning sketches and blogging.

Mike drove Oma and Opa to the airport in Germany that morning, so afterwords he ended up stopping in at Sarah’s and hanging out with her and the nieces for a good chunk of the day🙂

Zoe and I bonded 😜

I made some Davy Crockets to have around for a sweet treat.

One of the two I had grabbed for Zoe and I to test, slipped from my grasp and I was certain it was going to be a peanut buttery mess to clean off the floor but little did I know my own capabilities 😜
I juggled and struggled with the air born little treat for a good 5-8 seconds, (which doesn’t sound long, but count it out and consider that time all being spent trying to catch something that’s bouncing off of you and your hands) after which time it somehow ended up grasped in the hand holding the remaining treat.

I was stunned and Zoe’s laughter at the spectacle she had just witnessed had her gasping while trying to say she had never seen anything like that in her life 😂

I hate how written stories just aren’t the same as a story accompanied by hand movements and facial expressions… but I hope you get the idea of the grand, dessert escapee story 😏

The house was tidied in preparation for another viewing booked for the next morning, meatloaf was readied and a call with the mother and sister took place pre supper.

Which was said meatloaf, along with bread, taters and cucumber salad.

Washed down with chocolate covered strawberries and coffee later on 😊☕️🍓

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊

  1. I too have stood in stunned awe after catching a dessert that I thought was bound for the floor!! 😛 Enjoyed reading about the little dessert that tried to escape–but failed.
I find it amazing that you disliked creative writing in school because you really have a gift of depicting stories in a fascinating way!!
