Saturday May 20th –
I awoke to a baby’s rustling sounds, something that hasn’t really occurred before π
The nephew was picked up and taken upstairs to cuddle for an hour before Grams and Uncle woke up and he decided it was time for food.
Cuddles aren’t a bad thing… but I do wonder what the point is of waking up over an hour before you’re ready to do stuff ππ
Breakfast for all was a testing of the chai pudding I’d prepared the night before, as it had to sit overnight to… ‘pudding’.
(Thicken could be the word I was looking for π)
It wasn’t half bad!
It’s for sure a different texture but with a couple of tweaks it’s a breakfast I could get used to with some fresh fruit, granola or coconut, since I’m not much of a yoghurt person.
Spencer, Mom and Mike all enjoyed it as well so once I get the tweaking right I’ll probably share the recipe if anyone’s interestedπ
Mike left to work on the house, I began blogging and Mom began cookie making while we took turns caring for the miniature human.
The plumbing, electrician and mechanic bro had fixed Mike and my lawn mower, so I headed back to the house with Mike after lunch so I could get the very thick grass cut, before the towns folk became utterly disgusted with us π
I finished that and not long after, our friends arrived.
A carpenter is never a bad guy to know it would seem, as he and Mike got much done and the house incurred some of its most dramatic changes made to it yet πππ»
We girls got to visit at home, catching up after a long time apart, going for a small walk and then preparing supper for the guys.
Gnocchi, garlic toast and Caesar salad filled out plates and bellies and then the boys were back off to finish up at the house, saying they’d be a half hour max… we knew better.
So we began a craft and then by 11:30 pm when the guys returned, the craft was completed and their little sprout more than ready to head home after a long day with strangers π
It was a successful day in more than one way and were so thankful we had friends willing to spend their Saturday helping us out π
Sunday May 21st –
Spencer was still sleeping over, so as I finished showering (I abhor morning showers but sometimes, they just gotta be had π) I heard him waking and took him to uncle Mike for his morning care while I got ready for church.
They bonded while I did my hair and drank my coffee, wondering how awfully early you’d have to get up to prepare yourself and kids and make breakfast before casting such painful thoughts out of my mind and going to eat the breakfast Mom was getting ready π
It was a sunny morning and the drive to church a pleasant one.
Those blissfully green little spring leaves all around, ducklings spotted here and there and an overall feeling of nature being as happy about the sun as we were.
Once service was over we drove back through town, stopping at Rona for some more tile as it was on sale but we ended up wasting a fair bit of time because they couldn’t figure out their weekend scratch and save deals or the extra air-miles points. Both of which we wanted but afterwards, upon looking at the receipts Mom noticed they had still gotten them wrongπ
Then to extreme pita for lunch, a quick stop at Winners to look at the home stuff… which resulted in a skirt and dress for me and a shirt for Mike ππ
Oh, and a painting of Paris which we did really like annnd it was made in Canada π
It’s so much more fun to buy pieces of art that are of those monumental landmarks, when you’ve actually been to the place ππππ»
To home for naps and then post nap we got to go over to Becca and Nathins to view the newest sapling π
She was sleeping and that was about all… she has hair and she’s a baby so about as cute as can be expected π
Spencer seemed pretty happy to see us and uncle Mike showered the attention upon him so I’m sure that didn’t hurt anything ππ
Mom and Becca whipped up some wraps for everyone and then Mike and I headed to our house to pick up some last bits of garbage before the big garbage bin was to get picked up the following week.
I really want the cookie and the chia pudding recipes! And in the little pic I saw the baby is adorable!
