Cake day! πŸ˜¬πŸ¦„πŸ₯„πŸŽ‚

A birthday dinner (for me) / celebration for   (for Emily) was planned for the next day and I’d been itching to try my hand at making a unicorn cake, so it was the perfect excuse πŸ˜‰

I (and the sis) worked on that process between sitting outside in the sunshine and other odds and ends which occupy the average day.

A few little pots of espresso were brewed in anticipation of needing an iced coffee later on, in the hot summer day.

Does anyone have any awesome iced coffee tips/tricks/recipes??

With minimal effort required? 😜

Mine has for sure been better with the espresso rather than cold, normally brewed coffee but it still just lacks something post milk/caramel and or sweetened condensed milk… πŸ€”

The sister made us hot chicken wraps for lunch and then we all hung out outside for a while.
Tossing a water soaked pool toy back and forth for some activity and the cooling off effects πŸ˜œπŸ’¦

A walk was went on in town with all of us women… and Spencer πŸ™ˆ
Mom and Becca continued the walk longer then Pro and I, as she stayed to help me load up all the grass piles from lawn work the evening before.

Dad had said a few boxes would suffice but we filled the whole TRUCK box 😏

Non perk of ‘town’ life… having to haul your yard stuff and not being able to dump it at the back of your property πŸ™„

Post supper of farmers sausage, BBQ corn on the cob and salad, the bro’s family came over to have coffee and visit for the evening.
The kids running free in the yard, deciding the evening was a better time to splash in the kid pool then during the actual hot midday πŸ˜πŸ™„

Coordinated movement to song, is not a family trait πŸ˜‚

Thursday June 8th –

Breakfast was enjoyed, compliments of the sister πŸ€“πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ΄

Scrambled eggs and salsa.

It was already +19 at 10:00 a.m. in the morning, so the oldest girl went to Aunty Becca’s to play with her cousin and she was swapped with the nephew.

He and Bryn played fabulously outside, loving the spray bottles Grams had bought for themπŸ˜‹πŸ’¦

Iced coffees made a second appearance and this time it was the sister who concocted themπŸ’•

Again, any knowledgeable iced coffee barista’s willing to let out a few tips and tricks?? β˜•οΈ

As that evening was the arranged time for a joint birthday dinner/celebration, everyone had a few tasks to complete.

Mine and Moms including creating the fairy garden for Em.

We’d picked up the decoration a few places, Michiel’s, Peavy Mart, Garden Architect for the plants and The Dollar Store for the fake grass patch.

It was together in less than 30 minutes and the outcome was a pleasing one 😁🏞

While my sisters prepared dinner, Grams entertained the kids was quad rides around the yard.
Everyone hungrily waiting for the guys to get back from work so we could begin the gorging😬🍴

Finally the time came.

Food was ready, table set, everyone present and as Amen was uttered hands reached for spoons and dishes and I don’t know what else because at that point all of my attention was focused on my meal 😜

Panko breaded and fried chicken with cheese, pineapple and basil, fried buffalo shrimp, rice and nifty baked carrots loaded my plate and stuffed my insides.

Discomfort level was high but satisfaction higher… and that was pre cakes and coffee 😬

I’d made the unicorn cake for the kids and Becca (upon my request) had made her amazingly delicious, turtle cheesecake for the adults πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ’•

Cakes were cut and eaten and as Mom sliced the unicorn, he got top-heavy and tipped off his plate, almost falling to the floor, surviving fairly well, minus some rather flattened front mane😜
We were just really glad pictures were already taken πŸ™ˆ

Present time had arrived (finally πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‹) and Emily happily opened her gifts, with her cousin standing as closely as possible, having some bystanders excitement πŸ˜‰πŸ›

Then it was Aunty Jess’s turn πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Turns out, there was a sale on Buenos, the Kinder, hazelnut chocolate bars and everyone had taken advantage of it for my gifts πŸ˜‚

Each bag revealing more and more Buenos 😝

This darling ‘Jem’ necklace was given to me by my parents πŸ’•πŸ’Ž

Art supplies and a happily bright summer necklace from the sister-in-law and bro should help get me feeling in the artistic mood for sure πŸ˜‰πŸŽ¨

And pj’s from the sister were anxiously waited on until bedtime πŸ˜΄πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

It was a good evening together, all happy and overstuffed, over blessed (if that’s a thingπŸ˜‰) and ever thankful πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
