Couch Surfing And A Smidgen Of Health

Monday July 3rd –

Mike left that morning to go work on the kitchen electrical stuff with a friend who knew how to do that kind of stuff 😜

I rolled outta bed… actually off the couch and then not long after, prepared myself for a walk in town with Mom.

Mike and I have been sleeping on the couch in the basement for a few reasons.

1: It is a ridiculously comfy couch to sleep on
2: With it getting bright by 4:30 am and there being windows in our room, that isn’t an ok thing. The couch is in a windowless room, meaning no 4:30 light πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ŒπŸ»
(3: Mike can’t steal my covers if we are on said couch… he is a blanket hog πŸ˜‚)

Mom and I peaked in at the house progress and then began our walk/jog.
7.5 sweaty kilometres later, we finished our efforts for the day and told the guys to be back home for lunch within half an hour.

Tortilla pizzas were prepared via BBQ to keep the heat down in the house and the four of us enjoyed them, the guys heading back to finish the wiring once they were done.

Besides a refreshing shower and nap in the cool basement, I don’t know what the afternoon held 😜

I do remember supper though 😎

Fresh fried fish, fries, garden spinach salad wit caramelized nuts and strawberries and homemade tartar sauce for the fish dipping.

It was delicious and I’m hungry just recalling itπŸ‘ŒπŸ»

The bro and his fam had come over to have it with us, so the rest of the evening was spent visiting with them πŸ’•

Tuesday July 4th –

I was peacefully sleeping when the phone ringing pulled me out from under the covers.
I wouldn’t have gotten up to get it in normal circumstances but it was Moms number so I figured it was important.

As I answered, Mom told me in a weary sounding voice to ‘come upstairs’.
She was supposed to be in town so the fact that she didn’t sound herself and was telling me to come upstairs to see her was a tad concerning.

Quickly I went up, finding her bundled in a robe on the couch, sick with the flu 😬

Long story short, two vehicles were needed in town and she had been the driver of one, but that was no longer possible so I had to take her place and drive the truck into town.

Which I did after setting Mom up with meds and gingerale and dropping off a lunch for Mike, who was once again working at our place with our neighbour 😏

Once I arrived in town, the needed vehicles were swapped out and my sister-in-law gave me a ride back home.

Where I made myself a virgin mojito and pretty much just sat out on the deck until it was time for me to make supper for Dad, Mike and I.

Grilled chicken and rice with peanut sautΓ© sauce and a cucumber, strawberry and lemon juice salad.

Made with agave syrup instead of sugar since a decision to try to be even only a smidgen healthier then I regularly am, had been made at the start of the week.

It probably won’t last long but until that point, let me know if you have any super tasty, super filling, super healthy go to snacks/meals 😎

‘ Day two of eating healthy. Still look the same. Absolutely appalled. ‘

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
