Jem Moment : Macarons And Permanent Residency

”Twas a weekend of good things from afar.

Michiel was in Toronto for the weekend on business and I told him I expected some macarons when he came back, if that was at all possible πŸ˜‰

He came back and didn’t disappoint, having pistachio and chocolate flavours from two different stores πŸ˜πŸ’•πŸ›

They were quickly tested and enjoyed and also compared to our favourites from Tout.

We decided we liked the flavour of The Dessert Room ones and the texture from the Caniche Bakery .

So together, they were pretty much perfectπŸ˜‰

Also, during his weekend away, Michiel became a permanent resident of Canada! πŸ˜„πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸŽ‰

His papers that needed signing had been in Holland for some time but then we realized they expired and would have to be mailed to us.
They were sent and we prayed they would arrive in time for his trip to Toronto, so that he could use that opportunity to cross the border and have an immigration officer sign them.

They arrived two days prior and we were ever so thankful, not really having time or funds for an unnecessary trip across a border.

He drove to Buffalo the last evening of his trip, only to be told that ‘Sorry, since June the rules changed and we only process those on Tuesdays.’

😳

Inside, I wanted to believe that this was a test of our attitude and the Lord wouldn’t let us receive the papers in time,  just to have them refused signage, but it was hard 😬

Mike was at the border for over an hour, just waiting to see if they would do it anyways but then they said, no.

So he decided to drive further into the states and try crossing at another border.

They too said, no it wasn’t possible, but the Lord had someone listening off to the side.

That lady came up after hearing Mike explain the situation to a different agent and said that the rule was ridiculous and she would do it and take the blame if anyone was to get in trouble.

So, he’s officially done paper work and able to live and work in Canada and I got macarons to celebrate that news with… win, win πŸ˜‰πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ’•

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
