The Sweet Taste Of Guilt

Saturday Nov 4th –

Snow had fallen throughout the night, so it was a fresh, clean palette that greeted my eyes that morning.

I impatiently waited for a fresh cup of java to brew, so I could gather strength to go into town with Mike, to try toΒ scratch things off the fairly lengthy, ‘needed for house’ list 😏

There was a lot of looking and perusing and also finding out that picking cutting boards, can openers and garlic presses, is much harder than I would at first think…and also, most toasters are ugly 😜

There are limitless options for those items and a vast price range… so how does one even go about picking???

I’m even more grateful now, for the huge amount of kitchen stuff I already have from the shower/wedding presents πŸ˜¬πŸ’•πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

I did find this rug I really like and think it will go in the kitchen.

A lot was accomplished but much more will still need to be found and it’s now a question of, ‘buy now or wait to find things as they jump out at you?’.

The item I was thinking of while typing that, was a soap dispenser 😏😜

We stopped at a craft market before heading home and we were looking around the small room in disbelief of the size we had just paid to walk through… before realizing just in time that there was a whole other, larger section, down a hall way πŸ˜†

We looked and though not a lot called out to us, there were a few nice things and it was something different to occupy a little time ☺️

Oh… confession time.

The 14 day fix of eating healthy? Yeah I bombed it hard during the weekend πŸ™„

Even worse that evening when the husband made poffetjes, the little Dutch pancakes you eat covered in butter and icing sugar.

I admit to eating almost 50…

I am ashamed of myself…

But my goodness did they ever taste good πŸ˜‚

Sunday Nov 5th –

I happily dawned my new, blanket sweater to wear to church, relishing in its comfort and public acceptability πŸ˜‰

The night before I’d watched a video on how to make a ‘French omelette’ so I tried it that morning.

What makes it French I’m not exactly sure? 😜

French Omelette Tutorial

I just know it included a lot of butter and I found out it’s one way I can make/and enjoy eggs!

(Usually my egg cooking isn’t top notch 😬)

As you can see by the picture, heathy eating was still greatly slipping (probably slipping around in all the butter and cheese 🀀) but at least I got some fruit in… right?! 😜

Honestly though, it was super tasty and what’s the point of living life if you can’t eat what you want to now and then πŸ’πŸ»

The over indulging continued that afternoon post church, when we went out to eat with some friends πŸ˜‰πŸ’•πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ΄

That evening we managed to get a chat in with theΒ parents, who are currently still enjoying their tropical vacation.

It made me all the more ready to join them in a weeks time πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸ»

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
