Five Senses Satisfied

Thursday March 1st –

After a sliver of the lemon meringue tart from Eva’s for breakfast (which was delicious 🤤) we and my sister and her littles headed off to explore the small but sufficient town of Cedar City.

We perused through three stores that were joined together, two of which held many a lovely thing to be seen 😁
It was quickly realized that it was a good thing we were flying home and wouldn’t have space for much, or the temptations would have been great 😬

Such as these, the most perfect platters in the most perfect colors.

Or perhaps these adorably illustrated classics.

And more but it’s only painful to reminisce at this point 😣

We passed through a couple more shops and then went for lunch at the Park Place Eatery.
Which had many good reviews, none of which would be repeated by us after our time there 😜

The food was alright besides the slightly undercooked potatoes and greatly lacking presentation and the service less than pleasant, the building was cool and a good spot to snap a photo or two 😋💕

There was a little candy/soda shop with imported sweets and treats and a large collection of sparkling beverages, besides the fact that Mike said it smelt, ‘like and animal store’ it was interesting 😜

Colors, labels and shapes all blending into an overwhelming wall of eye-catching goodness 😜👌🏻

We journeyed back home and all happily took naps, the post surprise emotions having taken their toll perhaps?😜

Supper by the sister was some tasty fried veggies, grilled chicken, rice and a rather addicting parmesan and garlic bread from Costco, quickly eaten so we could go and do an escape room together while the niece was at play practice ☺

Another venue that had some rather good reviews and didn’t live up to our hopes and dreams,  Mastermind Room Escape😜

Either the people reviewing in Cedar City are easily pleased… or we are easily dissatisfied? 🙈

The owner was nice and welcoming and the office space we waited in was very welly decorated but then the room itself was entered…
She didn’t give us any back story about the room and the price tags from whatever second hand shop she’d bought the props at were all left on.
The microwave prop was genuinely dirty and that’s a ‘realistic feature’ we could have skipped 😜
All in all it was still entertaining because we did it together and got out of the house but we were also super happy the sister had found two coupons to use 😬👌🏻

We retrieved the niece and went to check out The palette Creamery .
As we walked in we were immediately pleased with the space and it’s decor.
Large white washed tables, high ceilings and unique lighting fixtures greeting the eye, along with the pleasant staff.

This double chocolate cookie skillet with a scoop of coconut macadamia nut ice cream was shared by the sister and I and it was really good, as most freshly out of the oven cookies tend to be 😉

Friday March 2nd –

An egg bake was made for us for breakfast and it was delish.
Pro tip (as in a good tip and as in a tip from Pro, the name I call my sister😜) – roast the tomatoes before hand and use those as the base rather than just freshly chopped tomatoes.
You’ll gain a flavour level or five 😉👌🏻

That dish was washed down with some more meringue and then we all prepared ourselves to go do some exploration of St George.

We found some short hikes (steep walks?) to do, as the minis were with us (a useful excuse so we didn’t actually feel lame for NOT choosing harder hikes? 😜).

The rock formations we trekked over, having been said to be made from grains of red sand that used to blow around the previously desert like area.

It was neat to see and the weather was a whopping +18 or so, pure bliss for Mike and I 😉😁👌🏻

We also explored a small slot canyon for a while.
Using the glowing streams of sunlight as personal spotlights from Mother Nature, eyeing up almost climb-able ledges and then rejecting such notions, testing the echo capabilities etc.

We left to search out a food truck but with no luck, so Chick-Fil-A was the conciliation meal, which was fine with me 😉

We shopped around, splurging on coconut lime refreshers to top off the hot day and then not long after, going for ice cream… again 😏
I wasn’t going to have any but then the little sample of cotton candy hit my taste buds and that decision held no longer 😜

Rowley’s Red Barn has delicious homemade ice cream.
It was THE BEST cotton candy flavour ever (and a lovely color)  and Mikes chocolate peanut butter cup was also subtly sublime.
The flavours started off nice and then the lingering aftertaste held a sudden, second flavour impact.
We all enjoyed our choices, and each others, a lot, in their homemade waffle cones 😁

As we began the drive home we slightly detoured to see a man-made lake with red sand beaches.
Which turned out to be a pathetic course of action but oh well 😜

The sister and her fam had seen the lake before, but on a calmer day, with the right sunlight or something because the color was NOT the same aqua ish blues she had captured in her pictures…but just a choppy, normal lake color and the beach drastically smaller because of higher water 🤪
So we left posts haste, but not ‘haste’ enough that the wee ones didn’t have time to gather and chuck multiple handfuls of the dusty red sand into the water 😬🙈

We spent the drive back submitting  reviews of places we’d been and it was decided we should all start some kind of review platform and our motto would be along the lines of, ‘if we say it’s good, it’s good’… a little self involved and delusional perhaps but oh well 😜
It’s a tricky thing to give helpful criticism but we didn’t want others to be disappointed by things we’d been lured into ? 🤔

It was a fun day in the sun and satisfactory day for the palates as well 😉

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊

    1. As in your home? I’d say a solid 4.5 out of 5 ⭐️ the .5 missing is simply because you are too good at whatever you attempt and that makes others feel unsure of themselves 🤪
