To Eat, Drink And Become Informed

Thursday, March 22nd, 2018

That afternoon Michiel and I headed to Saskatoon to run some errands and attend a workshop later in the evening.

I write this because we ate and drank good things, got stuff for the house and met some lovely humans… and it was time to stretch the writing muscle 🤓

We dined on sushi.
For the first time since trying it way back before we flew to Hawaii, when we went with friends who knew sushi well and we didn’t have to discover it alone and in the total unknown 😬
It was frighting and I’m not sure why but we still find sushi a very risky dish to order on our own somehow 🤪

According to reviews ‘Nisen Sushi’was the place to go, so, that’s where we went.
The decor and atmosphere were maybe (totally) not THE most welcoming but we didn’t go there to see nicely decorated spaces and feel good, we went there to eat, so technically what’s lack of ambiance reaaaally matter? 😏

Both of us were afraid to try this little reddish thingy placed at our table with no words of how to proceed from the waiter, I bravely (or timidly) tried it first.

It was just ginger 😜
We came to realize later it was probably to eat between sushi rolls and not as an appetizer #sushinovices

We ordered two sushi plates, dynamite rolls and crispy California rolls and we were really happy with both!!
I may not return for a dinner but more for a light lunch/snack kind of thing, especially considering the $11.00 total, but I for sure want to go back ☺

We picked up a sofa bed from Jysk in preparation for the husbands parents visit, later this spring.
Ordering a mattress topper off of to up the comfy level and keep prices nicely in budget 👌🏻
Opposed to having to buy a bed frame, box spring AND mattress and having the guest room/craft storage, filled mostly by bed, at all times.

Fingers crossed it works out 😬

We were on high alert for house items, as I had store credits to happily try using up but of course it wasn’t meant to be.

We did get a nice little bath mat which was an actual need but the file folder and purse were not.

I simply felt that the latter two purchases, will help me be a better, more responsible, adult 😉

After grabbing an iced Americano with vanilla and heavy cream, as per the recommendation from one of you’s, my taste buds rejoiced!

And wallet, considering it’s cheaper then the regular iced drink I get, the caramel macchiato
It is now a favourite and will be ordered many times in the future 😉👌🏻

For our evenings entertainment, we headed to a workshop being held by Spruce Homes.
The husband and wife home building and designing duo had a few tips and tricks to let a small group of us in on about building a custom home.

We aren’t planning on a custom build anytime soon but it still sounded like an interesting thing to learn about and it was 😉
Budgeting, planning, how to pick different things to fit your needs etc. was talked about and we got to tour through two of the houses they had designed, built and decorated.

It was a nice evening and we left feeling like we’d have knowledgeable and helpful people to go to if the time came that they were needed and the lovely hostess left us all with her a copy of her favourite magazine and some ‘spring like’ tulips ☺ 💕

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
