To Do, To Eat, To Visit

May 2nd –

Come Thursday our ‘to do, to eat, to visit’ (not eat who we visit 🤪) list, was greatly shrunk… one remaining item was to visit our other set of grandparents.

Besides that, we didn’t have any specific plan and decided to let the day take us where it would 💁🏻‍♀️

It took us to Utrecht because Mike found a store there that carried Tout Patisserie macarons 🤓
Which are the best macarons we’ve ever eaten and had planned to get from Amsterdam, depending how our trip went.
The place we went to only had two of the pistachio flavour, which is our very favourite, so we purchased them and thought maybe they would satisfy the sweet tooth enough that we wouldn’t need to make a stop in Amsterdam.

As it turns out, it only intensified the desire and Tout Patisserie was typed into the GPS 🤪😂
Not immediately, as we did think of some stops along the way but it was the destination none the less 🤓

Mich found a store that carried the brand of work pants he wanted to buy… deciding it was time to refresh that area of his wardrobe, having had his two pairs of ‘Snickers Workwear’ pants for 10 years 🤭
They didn’t have exactly what he wanted but he found some to order online 👍🏻

The weather wasn’t the nicest, so Mike found an actual mall to shop in which felt lovely opposed to the possibility of walking down the rainy streets to search out the shops you wanted to look in.

Sissy boy was a favourite store when we lived in Europe and that fact remains.

It has got an anthropology vibe in a way but maybe a smidge less costly.

I never said I BOUGHT a lot there, just that I LIKED it🤪

A Vapiano’s was spotted across the street and so we happily went there to eat a lunch, I wasn’t at all hungry at the time but knew I would enjoy it anyways 🤪

I love their pesto basilica pasta… a crinkly edged long noodle, bathed in very mild cayenne, oil, garlic, pesto and pine nut sauce, topped with parmesan  🤤👌🏻
We hadn’t expected to strike that off the list so it was a nice little ‘bonus’ meal 🤪

We popped into another outlet area and I actually found some denim skirts for my sister and I at the G-Star Raw outlet, for anyone interested in a high-waisted, button front, denim skirt, go there 💁🏻‍♀️

Tout was left with a package of 10 macarons in hand. Eight pistachio, one vanilla for me and one salted caramel for Mike 🤓

Mike felt like he needed supper so yet again, a snack bar was found and he got himself a frikandel and fries… I opted for just an ice cream 🤪

We then went to Oma and Opa H to visit with them awhile. Being served drinks and sweets while catching up on the most recent goings on. They don’t speak much english, so it was mostly smiling from my end but Mich does better conversing with people, no matter the language when compared to me anyways, so it’s all good 🤓

May 3rd –

For Friday we mainly just wanted to gather up some more of the groceries we wanted to have for taking home. Cheese to be precise 🤪🧀

First we ate some kibbeling for brunch though 🤓🍴🐟

We popped into a second hand store, seeing many an item that could be refurbished so nicely if the chance were given 🙈

These little glasses were also spotted and if they’d have had more than two, I probably would have given into temptation and bought them 🤪

A flower shop was entered for a little looksie and you’d think our amazement at the prices would ebb and fade away by now but that has not been the case 🤓💐

Back at the house, Mich decided to do some trimming up of the garden.

It’s one of his favourite tasks…and that isn’t being sarcastic. It’s the type of job that can be done decently fast but can also be done using as much precision as he wants, which he usually wants a lot 🤪

While he did that, I made a sopapilla cheesecake he’d been asking for 😏 Also known as ‘lazy cheesecake’ by me and whoever I make it for, because I’m so uncertain about its true pronunciation 🤪

He had soccer to go play with his brother that evening and when he returned, this is the grinning face in the window that greeted me 🤪

He had managed to bring an ice cream for me, from town, without my asking or having it be all that melted 😏👌🏻🍦

Hello humans 😊 This is where you learn about me I suppose, though anyone reading this right now most likely knows all the boring details ;) I am Jessica Rose Peters-Hagenouw. (Always thought I'd be able to pronounce my married name but hey, life doesn't go as we plan.) June 11, 1995, tis the day Robert and Bonnie Peters received the most adorable, amazing, wonderful, surprise 3rd child they could have dreamed of. Speaking of being the third child, I have an older brother and an older sister. Both of whom are married and have wee little families of their own, making 'Aunty Jess' another name I go by. I grew up and have lived all of my years up till November 2015 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Making summers that are extremely short and winters that never end, vast open spaces, northern lights, unthinkable amounts of mosquitoes, lakes, forests and people waving to you on the grid road all different things that mean = Home. But Home is not where I'll be for some time. My husband is a Dutchman, living in Europe. Therefore I too have been living in Europe for the last few months. The reason I started this little blog/journal/writing thing, is to document a bit of my "whole new world," for those at home who wont be awake at 3:00 am wanting to hear about how I couldn't find flour at the grocery store. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek into my little life 😊
