Meet The Maker

A while ago I did a little ‘Meet The Maker’ bit over on Instagram.

For those of you who don’t have Instagram or maybe missed it, I decided to just bundle it into one post, here πŸ™‚

So if you want to know a little more about me and what I make, read on πŸ˜‰

Meet The Maker (and my person Michiel;)

I am Jess, the person spinning the tales of our lives and adventures into readable form and creating the odd thing too 😏

After getting married, we moved to Europe for 1.5 years, I seen over 18 countries in that time and now we’ve moved back to my hometown where the hubster gave our first home, a huge makeover! We moved into it in December and are now working on the finishing touches, decorating and ‘homing it up’ bit β˜ΊοΈπŸ’• Continue reading “Meet The Maker”

A Gratitude Filled Giveaway

The time has come for a little ‘thank you’ giveaway for all the comments, likes, follows and feedback on over 500 posts! πŸ’•

So, to the important bit, what’s in it for you?

Well, some just sweet enough, slightly crunchy but still chewy, waffle like cookies, held together with a caramely syrup, kindly supplied by Double Dutch Cookies 🀀

(Extra scrumptious when paired with coffee I might add πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»β˜•οΈ)

A small, hand lettered piece by me, though I have no picture to lure you with, because I am waiting to create it until I know who the winner is πŸ˜‰

Annnd a $25.00 gift card to use over at Maple Jane Design!!

A local maker of many lovely knitted and crocheted things, my personal favourites being her toques πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

This giveaway is going to be a little different from the last couple I’ve held.

To enter, you will have to COMMENT ON THE BLOG, something you have learnt about me, during your time following along.

After over 500 posts, I would think that shouldn’t be too difficult πŸ˜‰

It can be one word or multiple sentences, there is no right of wrong observation.

(If you’re new to Jemstory and don’t feel like you really know much about me, just comment whatever you desire πŸ˜‹)

The first five people to comment, will receive an extra two entires πŸ˜‰βœŒπŸΌ

The winner will be announced on Friday, so get commenting and feel free to tell others about it πŸ“†πŸ˜„πŸ’ŽπŸŽ‰πŸ› πŸ’—πŸ’³πŸ“²

Jem Moment – You’re A Jem

Ok, so it seems like you all are the kind of crowd that responds to pushy encouragement, because did you ever make an effort to like AND comment on my post about what is in store for Jemstory moving forward!!

It may seem small to you, but letting me know your thoughts about what I spent time putting together, to hopefully bring a smile or even slightly amused raised brow to you, brings a huge smile to me! (Inside my head that is, as I’m not one to broadcast happiness in external ways, unless it’s because of something childish) πŸ˜πŸ’•

Because of that effort and a very wise readers suggestion (you know who you are πŸ˜‰)  it’s giveaway time πŸ˜ŽπŸŽ‰πŸ›

Carpentry And Coupons

Saturday May 20th –

I awoke to a baby’s rustling sounds, something that hasn’t really occurred before 😜

The nephew was picked up and taken upstairs to cuddle for an hour before Grams and Uncle woke up and he decided it was time for food.
Cuddles aren’t a bad thing… but I do wonder what the point is of waking up over an hour before you’re ready to do stuff πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‹

Breakfast for all was a testing of the chai pudding I’d prepared the night before, as it had to sit overnight to… ‘pudding’.
(Thicken could be the word I was looking for πŸ˜‹)

It wasn’t half bad!

It’s for sure a different texture but with a couple of tweaks it’s a breakfast I could get used to with some fresh fruit, granola or coconut, since I’m not much of a yoghurt person.
Spencer, Mom and Mike all enjoyed it as well so once I get the tweaking right I’ll probably share the recipe if anyone’s interestedπŸ˜‰

Mike left to work on the house, I began blogging and Mom began cookie making while we took turns caring for the miniature human.

The plumbing, electrician and mechanic bro had fixed Mike and my lawn mower, so I headed back to the house with Mike after lunch so I could get the very thick grass cut, before the towns folk became utterly disgusted with us 😜 Continue reading “Carpentry And Coupons”

Creativity And The ‘Non Secret’ Secret Project

Wednesday May 10th –

Morning blogging and conversation took place after the appropriate amount of coffee was consumed.

Spencer was over but he was truly downtrodden over the absence of his mom.
Sadly shuffling about, to and fro from the couch to the wall with the photo gallery of the family, pointing to ‘Mom’ over and over.
It was sad but Grams was there to comfort, thankfully πŸ˜‹πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

I began painting the wooden blocks I’d saved from our shell table construction and decided the outcome was a pleasant one πŸ˜ŠπŸ–Œ

Supper was a tasty stir fry made by Mom.

(I want to tell you the recipe and yet I don’t… because it’s SO easy, that if I have one of you’s over it won’t seem impressive that I made it, but simply lazy πŸ˜‚)
((Not saying Mom’s lazy 😬😳))

Becca and the saplings joined us and the meal was enjoyed😊

Thursday May 11th –
