Post Vacation Splurging

Friday Nov 24th –

The blur of what day blended into which, while traveling,Β had begun.
We actually slept for most of the longest flight, which came as a surprise to me, never having had that happen before 😳
It was the sleep of the sore but sleep none the less and after a couple of cat naps in Vancouver and Calgary during our two little layovers, I wasn’t feeling so bad come the arrival in Saskatoon.

We were happy about the Calgary layover, as it meant we’d get Chick-fil-A πŸ˜‹πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Mom had appointments in the city that coerced with our landing time, so we took a taxi to the mall to pass time, checking out some of the Black Friday deals, now becoming more and more available in Canada.
Things were seen but not bought, as the shopping mood was distant and the desire to be done, most present 😜

Starbucks ebbed into our bloodstream and the mother picked us up and we headed home 😊

Saturday Nov 25th –

After a long sleep, we moseyed upstairs just before noon πŸ˜‹πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Mike decided to go into town to pick up the snow blower he’d ordered and to buy a light for our bedroom from Canadian Tire. Continue reading “Post Vacation Splurging”

The Last Of The Tropic Vibes

Wednesday Nov 22nd –

We’d planned the night before, to get ready as soon as possible the next morning and go spend the day at Hapuna beach.

We ate almond poppy seed muffins from Costco for breakfast.
My pretty much all time favourite muffin, which Canada Costco’s do not carry??!πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„

We made it to β€˜our’ spot on the beach and settled right into shell hunting… interesting how quickly people claim things as their own no? 😏

Mike got into the shelling too, his long arms proving useful in emptying out the sandy holes created by the springs merging into the oceanπŸ˜‰

We did that for a while, getting enough good shells to keep on hunting through the treasure-less stretches, until the next treasure was claimed by someone, encouraging the rest of us to search through one more handful and so on and so forth πŸ˜‰

The smallest sheller of us all, had to watch that she didn’t fall INTO some of the larger sandy holes but she was copying and showing all her magnificent β€˜finds’ for awhile too, having no chance at growing up to NOT care about the oceans loot πŸ˜‹

We sun bathed, tried and failed at staying sand-less, walked along the expanse of beach and just gloried in the last official beach day together πŸ’•β˜€οΈπŸŒŠ Continue reading “The Last Of The Tropic Vibes”

Tumultuous Times, Oblivious Observers

Monday Nov 20th –

It was departure day for the parents and relocation day for the rest of us.

So we packed up and shipped out that morning, taking time to stop at a few places along the drive to Kona side.

Coconut Island was walked to, pretty much just to say that we had been to someplace called ‘Coconut Island’ :p

It’s a very small little outcropping of land that people mainly go to for relaxation I think.

We drove on, stopping to take a little-big walk, that lead to the Akaka waterfall.
Little because it wasn’t far distance wise but big as in it had many stairs and we took the harder way up, accidentally 😜

We glanced through a neat little place called β€˜glass from the past’. Continue reading “Tumultuous Times, Oblivious Observers”

Specimens, In And Out Of The Zoo

Saturday Nov 18th –

Mike was feeling even worse, having been up throughout the night and serenading us with songs of the sickly that morning 😬

There was a big christmas craft fair going on in Hilo and Mom wanted to go to it, so the sister and I tagged along.
Mike decided to come too, wanting to get out of the house, though he looked like a much sadder version of his usual self 😬😜

The whole thing was christmas themed, holiday decorations filling some booths and holiday tunes in the air. It’s a weird atmosphere for us tropical weather vacationers 😜

I got a wooden sign saying ‘Aloha’ from Simply SignsΒ and I’m hoping it will go somewhere in our entryway 😊

I also wanted this one, but decided to against it… for now 😏😜 Continue reading “Specimens, In And Out Of The Zoo”

‘Hāpuna’ Matata

Thursday Nov 16th –

We were getting tired of the dreary weather this side of the island, so that morning we decided it would be worth the two-hour drive across to the Kona side to get some sunshine, beach and ocean πŸ’•πŸŒŠβ˜€οΈ

Dad hadn’t been feeling top-notch, so he decided to stay back and Mike thought the drive would be too long for the amount of enjoyment it would bring, so he too stayed back πŸ’πŸ»

The two hours did begin to feel a little lengthy but after we got to the sunshine and settled in to our corner at the beach? It was wondrous.

+28 degrees, a pleasant breeze, warm aqua waters and nice sand, made for the perfect place to spend the afternoon.

Scent-sational Experiences!

Tuesday Nov 14th –

Nothing beats a warm tropical morning with coffee, feasting ones eyes on lush greenery and a blue pool, with humid salty breezes brushing away cares, to start ones day πŸŒ€β˜•οΈπŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸŒ΄πŸŒΊπŸ“–

We planned on hanging out at our place for the majority of the day, as it was supposed to be a sunny one and it seems like rainy days are more popular on this side of the island.

Mike was going a little stir crazy at the idea of a SECOND day spent at the house (so weird 😜) so he and Dad went to Hilo to sign Mike up as a second driver on the rental vehicle and they passed some time there by getting groceries and I’m not exactly sure what else 😏

Pro and I walked around the yard, searching for wild flowers for a photo I wanted to take, wishing from deep within ourselves that we too, could have yards with such flowers naturally flourishing at our fingertips.

Mom made us breakfast, which was sporting the cutest little bananas, also picked from within the yard😏🍌🍳🍞🍴

Between the bouts of clouded over skies and rain and even some moments of pure sunshine whilst it rained, (which is odder to be in than it may sound) we spent the afternoon poolside.

Later that afternoon Mike, Mom, Pro (the sister whose nickname, not real name, is Pro 😜) and I decided to go check out ‘KaimΕ« Beach’ aka, ‘The New Black Sand Beach’ which was supposed to be fairly close by and have an interesting story behind it.

If you consider 80 feet of lava, covering an entire beach front-village area, interesting πŸ˜³πŸŒ‹ Continue reading “Scent-sational Experiences!”
