Annnnd She’s Back!

After a sabbatical (well, not really a sabbatical at all, since typically those are paid amounts of time off, which I did not get) I am back to attempt writing here once again! 😀

That’s all, you can go on your way now.

No, really that is petty much all I have to say on this, my first official day back. I just wanted to say, ‘Hello, it’s me’ and that I will be doing my best to provide some form of pleasant reading/browsing material in the near future. As the humans who frequent this page, feel free to leave a comment with what would be of the biggest interest for you to see/read!

Thank you for the past support and now, in this the present, ‘take 2’ 😉

Twinkly Finishing Touches

Sunday July 23rd –

Dad was once again working away from home so it was Mom, Mike and I who drove to church that morning and then back into town for afternoon errands.

Supplies for new deck lighting that Mom had been wanting were found, so that Mike could work on putting it up and then a sign for a closing out sale at Sears caught our eyes and we figured we might as well check since we were near anyways.

It was busy, messy and the sales lacking the discount a closing out sale should have, in my mind anyways.
I did find some picture frames and Canada pins but that was it, the meager 20% not having much of an effect on my spending 😜

We decided on McDonald’s for lunch, since it was already later in the day and we didn’t feel like waiting to make food at home.
I feel like the prices have went up and the quality went even further down if that’s possible? 😬

Or maybe it’s just that I’m an ‘adult’ now 😜

Once home, Mike went straight away to work putting posts on the deck for the string lights. Continue reading “Twinkly Finishing Touches”

~ 07. 20. 14 ~

(Prepare yourself for a wordy post about grief and many quotes I personally find fitting.)

It is the 3 year anniversary of the flying accident that took the lives of four young adults.

All of whom I knew.

One of whom was my best friend.

I remember knowing what the phone call around midnight would tell me, without having any way of knowing.

But I can’t remember our last day together, it’s a blur and a few, filled with half guessed facts.

This is a partial list of what I wrote while I was flying to the States to attend the funeral for one of the four.

‘Live for the legacy you want to leave behind.

We are only given battles we are strong enough to get through.

You can become stronger and better by the testimonies they left behind.

Life will never be the same, accept that and become the best you can, you have a chance.

Everyone deals differently, have compassion.

Gods hand is on all of it.

Little things aren’t worth getting mad about. Life happens, it is unavoidable, let it go.

Do your best, no one can ask for more.

Cry or don’t. It doesn’t mean you are weak, it doesn’t mean you don’t care.

It’s okay to want her back, try to remember that she wouldn’t want to come back if she could though.

Time, a precious gift, use it wisely.’

I still agree with what I wrote, but I hate how time, has taken the urgency away. Continue reading “~ 07. 20. 14 ~”

Pura Vida

So I have a little something for you all, in honour of having grown to 500 followers on Instagram and for there being a number of you following along on the blog as well (though really, all of you should be 😉).

A code for 20% off your Pura Vida  orders
🎉😁

Now, unbeknown to me, I had actually seen some of these bracelets during our honey moon in Costa Rica.

Over a year later I can across Pura Vida and their products via Instagram and was curious about the company because I love bracelets and because their name was a term I seen on a lot of things while we were in Costa Rica, meaning ‘pure life’.

Turns out, it’s a company that hires Costa Rican locals, to make bracelets and then they sell them all over the world, all while helping support families.

I got my first bracelet from them a couple of months ago and I love it 😁 Continue reading “Pura Vida “

Simple Saskatchewan Summertime

Sunday July 9th –

Dad and Mom were back from the lake and that meant that Sunday breakfast was back too 😎

A different preacher then usual was speaking that morning and it was enjoyed.

Making me contemplate my testimony, what the Lord has done for me and how good He has been, yet how much do I actually say or show that to others?

What light do we shine to others?
What hope do we bring?
If He’s been so good to us, how do we try show Him our gratitude, no matter how insignificant it may seem, and apply that do our daily lives, interactions and decisions ?

(Jess questions herself 😉😋⬆️)

After church we had a couple of things to do in town before heading home to eat leftover stir fry and take naps 😋👌🏻

After waking and brewing some coffee to enjoy with the fresh stroopwafels Michiel had brought back from Toronto, it was photo shoot time. Continue reading “Simple Saskatchewan Summertime”

Couch Surfing And A Smidgen Of Health

Monday July 3rd –

Mike left that morning to go work on the kitchen electrical stuff with a friend who knew how to do that kind of stuff 😜

I rolled outta bed… actually off the couch and then not long after, prepared myself for a walk in town with Mom.

Mike and I have been sleeping on the couch in the basement for a few reasons.

1: It is a ridiculously comfy couch to sleep on
2: With it getting bright by 4:30 am and there being windows in our room, that isn’t an ok thing. The couch is in a windowless room, meaning no 4:30 light 😎👌🏻
(3: Mike can’t steal my covers if we are on said couch… he is a blanket hog 😂)

Mom and I peaked in at the house progress and then began our walk/jog.
7.5 sweaty kilometres later, we finished our efforts for the day and told the guys to be back home for lunch within half an hour.

Tortilla pizzas were prepared via BBQ to keep the heat down in the house and the four of us enjoyed them, the guys heading back to finish the wiring once they were done.

Besides a refreshing shower and nap in the cool basement, I don’t know what the afternoon held 😜

I do remember supper though 😎 Continue reading “Couch Surfing And A Smidgen Of Health”
