β¨New year, new me ππ»ββοΈ kidding, I donβt evolve that quickly π€ͺ but it has been awhile since Iβve introduced myself, so a few tid bits about me…
β’
I generally never dress up, havenβt curled my hair in two years and I never pose for photos of myself…& I rarely venture outdoors during winter, so this photo is pretty much entirely a lie, good way to kick this off π
β’
As for a truth about me. My face says, what my words do not π€ Meaning I may not always put words to my feelings but youβll be aware of them none the less. Also meaning Iβd make a terrible spy…because lack of muscle coordination & worldly intelligence donβt play any roll in being a spy eitherπ€ͺ

Jem Moment x 2
So ever since we got a house pretty much, I’ve been dreaming of being able to get a kitten.
I knew it would have to wait until we were ready to move in, though understanding that made the wait no easier π
Mike was even going to get me a kitten for our anniversary but we weren’t moved in yet and he didn’t think I would appreciate him picking one out, without me π
He was correct haha.
So once a more solid ‘move in’ date became clear, I began looking.
I went to look at the black and orange one and promptly decided that yes, she was what we needed π
So the next day Mike came with to pick her up and I told him he also had to see the one light orange one just cause he was super cute too.
He picked him up and melted, I pretty much knew right there that it was good thing we had brought a larger box π
So, we happily and perhaps a little unwisely, left with TWO kittens, who are making it difficult to write this even now π
I’m thrilled, Mike is very accepting and the pitter patter of their little paws is just what this house was missing ππππ»
We have pretty much decided on the name Atlas, for the small girl who mimics all her brother does, as her splotchy markings reminded me of the shapes seen on a map.
The light orange one isn’t named yet but he is a sturdy guy, reminiscent of a little polar bear when tromping away from us and he is super fluffy. Think lush sheepskin rug π
A Dinner Date And Fiji’s Fate
Thursdays Feb 23rd –
A little bit of organizing was done.
I guess it’s in the air since that’s what Mike had been doing with the grandparents too π
The space under the guest/nap bed was cleaned out and items went through.
Turns out it was mostly suitcases under there… guess that’ll be a good thing come moving day π¬
Bags of items no longer needed by us were prepared to give away and then I went through the kitchen cupboards to find more to add to them.
That was a little harder to do, considering I pretty much only have the necessities as it is, and if I gave away too much I’d have nothing left to cook with π
Mike had errands to do, I had mail to prepare and then we headed off for a dinner date π΄π
The restaurant we had planned on (thanks to groupon) looked rather, unwelcoming.
A Few Moments, Not All Jems…
Sooo for starters, Mike got his work/travel visa for Canada approved, within all of 10 days!
Meaning he can now work in Canada until his official papers come through! π
Shoutout to Randy Hoback, MP of Prince Albert, whose office helped us with many questions, super quickly, professionally and politely.
Setting us on the right track much faster then any previous attempts to get some government/paperwork questions answered.
Non happy moment, putting Fiji up for adoption.
It made me feel like an awful human, giving up my loved little buddy to someone he doesn’t know and then leaving him confused and abandoned in his little cat mind…
The Jem bit of it though, Mikes cousin asked about taking him and after many questions (from both sidesπ) she was accepted as his new mother and deemed an acceptable personππ
Fiji was taken to his new home yesterday.
His new mom was a darling and after visiting with her for a while, we left with a sympathetic note and box of macaroons in hand.
Her idea of easing sadness was by giving food and I think THAT, tells a lot about the good inside of her πππ»π
Felines Aren’t Meant For Flying
Wednesday Feb 15th –
Michiel has taken second hand cars on as his pass time and much of his Wednesday was spent buying cleaning supplies, cleaning, getting papers, speaking to buyers etc.
I had an idea to try creating a little something for the nieces and nephew for a going away gift once Mike and I move, so I began that after the creating juice was drank (coffee, obviously).
I Continued to work on it for most of the day, taking a short cheese and cracker break to keep the energy up.
For now it’s a surprise project, but if anyone has good ideas to give young kids when you move away, (preferably Canada themed) please let me know!
I needed a stretch from sitting so long in my favourite ‘awful for the knees’ postion of having my legs bent underneath me.
So I decided to get up and go through a dresser to get a head start on some of the sorting that will need doing come ‘the move’.
Stuff got shifted around, things were thrown out and others moved to the ‘to give away’ piles.
It felt good to clean out some things but it also made me realize that we don’t actually have all that much to get rid of π
After that I had to get the house tidied and biscuits mixed to go with the soup we were having for supper with John and Inge. Continue reading “Felines Aren’t Meant For Flying”
Jet-lagged-Coffee Crazed-Cat Lady
Tuesday Jan 10th –
It had been a sleep of a restless jet-lagged traveler and when I did finally peel myself out of bed it was to go straight to the coffee pot.
(The coffee pot we had forgotten a filter in during our trip back to Sask, creating the extremely creepy effect of mold π¬ But we had noticed that on Monday and had ample time to clean and run vinegar through it so it wasn’t that mornings greeting thankfully)
Sheets needed washing, dishes doing, perishable items put away and unpacking could have happened, but I let it slide since I was more in the ‘sit on the couch and do nothing’ mood thanks to lack of sleep and goodbyes π
Mike had to jump right back into the daily grind and work from the office π¬π»πΆ
Frozen pizza was supper, upgraded with bacon, pineapple and more cheese and a smoothie made with the leftover pineapple.
Mike said we should be more healthy… he also said he was giving up pop π
We will see how long that lasts π
