Post Vacation Splurging

Friday Nov 24th –

The blur of what day blended into which, while traveling,Β had begun.
We actually slept for most of the longest flight, which came as a surprise to me, never having had that happen before 😳
It was the sleep of the sore but sleep none the less and after a couple of cat naps in Vancouver and Calgary during our two little layovers, I wasn’t feeling so bad come the arrival in Saskatoon.

We were happy about the Calgary layover, as it meant we’d get Chick-fil-A πŸ˜‹πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Mom had appointments in the city that coerced with our landing time, so we took a taxi to the mall to pass time, checking out some of the Black Friday deals, now becoming more and more available in Canada.
Things were seen but not bought, as the shopping mood was distant and the desire to be done, most present 😜

Starbucks ebbed into our bloodstream and the mother picked us up and we headed home 😊

Saturday Nov 25th –

After a long sleep, we moseyed upstairs just before noon πŸ˜‹πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Mike decided to go into town to pick up the snow blower he’d ordered and to buy a light for our bedroom from Canadian Tire. Continue reading “Post Vacation Splurging”

One And A Half Treasures

Friday Oct 20th –

Mother and I went over to MY place and worked on getting the trim upstairs all patched, sanded and repainted, which took up a good chunk of the morning.

Once we finished up there, we headed over to the sisters to enjoy a delicious, beef barley soup for lunch, before we all headed back to Moms, to rake leaves πŸ˜πŸƒπŸπŸ‚

The strong winds the previous day had actually blown many away but they have one massive tree, along with many other, smaller but still leafy trees, so there was an abundance to be raked up and hauled away none the less 😬

8 truck boxes to be precise… and that wasn’t even all of them 😜

Unfortunately no, that is not Mike and my’s truck πŸ’”πŸ˜œ

I skipped out on the last bit of yard work to get things ready for supper and watch the littlest human.

If I’d rather watch a kid, you can tell how high on my enjoyment list, raking is 😏😜 Continue reading “One And A Half Treasures”

Preparing To Give Thanks

Saturday Oct 7th –

Happy thanksgiving!

Just kidding… that wasn’t until Monday 😏

But our preparations for it began early, so that everything could be made and ready to go, skipping out on so much work and undue effort come the actual day of πŸ’πŸ»

I admit to not doing much 😬

What kind of daughter would I be if I cooked a turkey and made stuffing… when my Mom is there to do it?? I couldn’t deny her that! πŸ˜‰

I did make a lemon cheesecake tart and it turned out to be a lot more cheesecake then I’d thought it would be, but the bits of lemon curd that escaped the bowl had me excitedly awaiting the tasting come Monday πŸ˜¬πŸ‹

Other Saturday goings ons filled the day, until it was time for Mike and I to leave and drive out to have supper with some friends ☺️

We were warmly welcomed and sat down to a delicious meal of Caesar salad, seasoned green beans, garlic bread and pasta with a hearty meatball sauce 🍝πŸ₯–πŸ₯—

The evening commenced into visiting and since we are now aging adults, we left in a timely manner, so the required sleep pre next morning church, was gotten πŸ˜‹

What Instagram Doesn’t Tell You About Marriage

*Forewarning – a lengthy post about marriage…written by someone who has not been married very long.

I heard on a podcastΒ  ~Jeff And Alyssa Β ~ Β how, we as individuals, are so very deeply shaped by our families that understandably, it creates what OUR normal is.

Which of course, the people who raised/taught/nurtured us, shapes our outlooks and perceptions of life.

The podcast brought out more in-depthΒ how coming together in marriage, can be tricky because of those expectations, rules, actions etc. that are more often than not, probably unspoken.

So much so, that we may not even realize we have them as expectations or habits, but it’s how we were raised and what is ingrained in us.

Mikes ‘normal’ reaction and my ‘normal’ reaction, can sometimes be very different than each others and it’s a hard thing to step back and think, ‘ok, why did I react that way, maybe it actually doesn’t ‘matter’, or is it just what I’m used to?’

I thought it was an interesting aspect to share with you’s πŸ˜ŠπŸ’πŸ»

Being married is a lot about expectations – unspoken, spoken or contrived from everything around us.

I expected, (thanks to most man/woman jokes about marriage) that I would be the blanket hog and need all the space in bed… but no, that would be my husband.

The one I wake up beside, shivering on my one inch of mattress, while he’s sprawled out in a blanket kingdom😜

A Happy Stomachs Heart

Sunday Oct 1st –

Breakfast by Bob and then off to church.

It was communion service that evening at church, so we had been invited for lunch and to spend the afternoon with friends at the home of a lovely human, whose cooking  I haven’t gotten to enjoy for a looong time πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Borscht soup and a ham, apple, cheese and pear butter sandwich filled my plate and my heart was very happy 😁🍴

Or would that be my stomach? My stomachs heart? 😜

Anyways, it was delicious and followed by the second choice of soup, lemon chicken rice and a caprese style sandwich πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

A leisurely afternoon of visiting followed until it was time to head back to church.

It’s always an uplifting evening and many share testimonies of what God has been doing in their lives πŸ’•

Psalms 26:7

That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all Your wondrous deeds. Continue reading “A Happy Stomachs Heart”
