A Happy Return And Uncomfortable Encounters

Wednesday Sept 27th –

Mike went to work on the house, as per usual.

I stayed home.

Also rather ‘usual’ πŸ™ˆ

I worked on getting some cement orders ready, a blog up, lettering done and some last minute straightening up of the premises, because the parents were finally coming back!

It was three weeks since we had last seen them, so there was actually some cause for excitement πŸ˜‰πŸ˜œ

I made Mike and I tomato, bacon sandwiches on jalapeΓ±o bagels for lunch and after eating them we were going to head back to the house.

Plans Unplanned

Wednesday Aug 16th –

Michiel and I headed into town.

He was literally about to drop me off to clean and then he could about his business, when the house I was scheduled to clean, canceled πŸ™„

I managed to swap it out with another job and still got to go work but it did mess up the day, plans becoming slightly, unplanned 😬

We ordered pizza to take home for a late lunch/early supper, went for a nap and then over to work on getting the last of the sub floor put down in our house.

”Twas then a lazy evening on the couch, new plans made for the next day.

Adaptability And Sisterly Bonding

Pictures may or may not appear, as I am up at the lake with little to no service at the time being

Wednesday Aug 2nd –

Mike and I had a house to clean, him working on the windows, cupboards and then walls, while I scrubbed the main, daily living areas and fridge thoroughly.

It took a decent chunk of our morning but having someone else around while working was nice πŸ™‚

Mike then had a never before task ahead of him, refinishing a lowbed trailer 😳
The whole thing needed new, wooden slabs fit in and he had been hired by the family sawmill, to be the one to do so.

As I waited for him, I pondered the slightly changed, but still very much ‘Mike’, Mike.

He was up on a large truck, wearing work clothes, using a chain saw and hammering large, wooden boards in place, with a sledge hammer.

A fair chunk different from the months before, when he was casually driving his car to an office or maybe even working from home, dress clothes and leather shoes on all day, laptop bag in hand.

Neither are good or bad… just broadly different and as I watched, I was proud at his ever willingness and adaptability, to excel in his current situations πŸ™‚ Continue reading “Adaptability And Sisterly Bonding”

Procrastination, Renovation And Caffeination

Wednesday July 19th –

A fair chunk of the morning was taken up with tidying odds and ends in preparation for the parents return later in the day.
Lawns also needing mowing, a chore that had been delayed greatly by the lack of rain and presence of sun… making for dead grass, not in need of cutting 😏

The mower then ran out of gas, mid lawn, so I washed up and resigned myself to the couch, where much time was spent writing.

I had wanted and also not wanted, to write what turned into  ~ 07. 20. 14 ~ .
So instead of sitting down and doing it when I wasn’t in a rush, so that it would be easily ready for the right date, I prolonged the decision and then had hours of typing, thinking, retyping, adding, taking away and proof reading ahead of me 😬

Generally a post doesn’t take THAT long, but the pressure to get that one as ‘right’ as I could, was felt greatly, especially since my posts are usually just glib, day to day posts, like this one 😜

The parents eventually arrived back and tales immediately began being told.
(Mostly by me, Mom seems to think 😜)
She and I walked to the bro’s house to join everyone else to eat pizza and catch up πŸ•

I got my first real grin and coo out of the littlest niece AND cheesy garlic bread sticks… so it was a good evening πŸ’πŸ»πŸ˜‹

Domestic Purifier

Thursday June 29th –

It was the first day of cleaning a new place for a client, so Mike drove me into town that morning and worked on errands while I cleaned.

As it was the first cleaning, it took some time😬

Lucky for me they had a super friendly cat which kept me company, following me into every room and trying to catch the dusting cloth πŸ˜‹
(Unluckily for me, said cat shed abundantlyπŸ™ˆ)

5.5 hours of scrubbing, mopping, vacuuming etc. later, the hubby came to pick me up, bringing with him, a gratefully received iced caramel macchiato with extra espresso πŸ˜πŸ™ŒπŸ»

I feel like this whole cleaning thing is gonna kick my butt 😜

I have cleaned before and I know it’s not the easiest work in the world, but to go at it and not slowly either, for over five solid hours?
My unaccustomed and nail pierced foot and back were aching and I was so happy to have the place done πŸ™ˆ

After a quick bite to eat at A&W, a burger for Mike and onion less, onion rings for me (πŸ˜œπŸ™ˆ) we headed out to my aunt and uncles so I could do my cousins hair as she was a grad escort.

Back to the onion less onion rings for a moment, I dislike onions greatly.
I use them in soup and I’ll eat them baked into the odd thing but for the most part, I do not like them.
Onion rings are in between love and hate 😜
I love the outside batter dipped in ketchup, I hate the slimy inside onion 😬
As a kid, mother wouldn’t let me order onion rings just to eat the batter (understandable I supposeπŸ™„).

But now that I’m an adult ! πŸ˜„ Continue reading “Domestic Purifier”

Concierges Of The House And Grounds

Tuesday June 27th –

The time of sitting around and not doing anything because the ma and pa were away, had come to an end 😎

I decided to make bread.

It was the second time I’ve made bread alone and it wasn’t as daunting as I always seem to think it is (though I almost don’t dare say it, so that Mom doesn’t make me do it more oftenπŸ˜‰).

It did take a good chunk of the morning though, so after everything, including the taste test, was finished up with, I headed outside.

The rock paths needed weeding, some plants watering.

I decided since I was out and messy anyways I’d also clean up the garage a little bit.
Moving some of Mike and my items to the front, so we could haul it to the house next time we went and in doing so, give Mom a little bit of her garage back πŸ˜‰

I got potatoes sliced, soaked and seasoned so that I could try deep-frying them as per Mikes recent requests.

They turned out really well!

(But don’t most deep-fried things? 😜) Continue reading “Concierges Of The House And Grounds”
