DIY Floral Home Decor

A super simple DIY to create your own flower decor piece.

When I began making it, I thought it would grace my wall but after it was completed I ended up disliking it there and it has actually become a perfect coffee table decoration.
The low profile makes for what I consider to be a nice pop of color without being too much or blocking ones view 😉

(If my home was more tropically inclined on the outside, I’d totally use it as a door wreath at some point though 😏)

So, as for what you need:

A macramé ring or a wooden embroidery hoop, found on amazon or your local craft store.

If you’re using the wooden hoop, you can also get spray or craft paint in your preferred color.

I obviously chose gold 😜

Fake flowers… I suggest one bigger bloom with a few smaller flowers that also have ‘buds’ and one bunch of greenery.

Hot glue.

What to do:

It’s pretty straight forward and I trust any one of you’s could do this, without this instructional bit, but I’ll explain it anyways 😉

If you’re going to paint your hoop, do that now.

While it dry’s you can begin taking apart the fake flowers, removing the blooms from the stems.

Lay out your flowers to get a semi idea of how you want them applied before beginning.

Using one larger bloom as a centre and typically an odd number of smaller blooms on either side.

Attach using hot glue.

Hang, lay or display however and enjoy your handy work 😉

And tag me if you do it 😉🌺

Art For Afar

Just a little peek at a custom order that I recently completed ☺

I SO appreciate the support and can’t thank you’s enough for taking the time to purchase some of my work 💕

I loved this order for the fact that the verses were picked out personally but the freedom of design and color was pretty much left up to me and my imagination, after some slight consultation with the buyer 😉

A Week In The Life…

Jan 3rd –

That morning the hubster and I worked in a phone date… a tricky thing to do with a seven hour time difference and his jam-packed schedule of mingling 😉

The bro in law and nieces came over later that morning… the bro had a new hose to put on the washing machine, which had begun leaking at midnight, the night Mike had left 😜

I worked on some custom art pieces I’d been asked to do, for a good chunk of the rest of the day😊

I avoided the home of my raisers that day, as most over there were ill 😬

Freeloaders Afoot

Tuesday Dec 12th –

Mom came over that morning to enjoy my company 😊

No, she actually just wanted the wifi 😏😜

She had things to accomplish online and as stupid as it is, the two minutes that she lives away from us, means she can’t get much cell/internet service at their place 🙄

Not that I minded her coming over 😉

We hung out for the morning, each working on our own things until I served us tomato soup in storage containers, as I found out we have no soup bowls 😜
Post our refined lunch (😉), we went out for a walk as it was a lovely day outside 😏⛅️

Before heading off though, we detoured a few steps over to the post office, so I could put up a sign advertising the pies I’ve been baking ☺️ Continue reading “Freeloaders Afoot”

Wow…

Friday Sept 29th –

After a rude awaking from the husband to start the day off right, (wrong 😒) he and I headed over to our house to begin a day of the large and small tasks that lead us ever closer to completion.

Some days I go there and I’m like, ‘wow it’s so close to being done actually!’ and other days, I look around and think ‘wow… so much still has to be done…’ 😜

And I haven’t even hardly done any of it 🙈💁🏻

We built the second dresser for our bedroom and Mike got that squished into place before starting the preparations for the bedroom for flooring.

I went to work washing out more window sills and then a painting station was set up so that I could start turning our trim, grey.

Mike found us a second hand bed frame from the habitat store, so I also sanded that to have it ready to paint, when I was.

Mike got most of the master bedroom floored and then we ran out of flooring so we headed home for supper.

The bro who was in town, was a champ and picked us up the remaining boxes we would need to finish upstairs the next day.

Or as Michiel has no idea of what the word ‘patience’ means, he finished the whole upstairs, that night 😏
