Meet The Maker

A while ago I did a little ‘Meet The Maker’ bit over on Instagram.

For those of you who don’t have Instagram or maybe missed it, I decided to just bundle it into one post, here πŸ™‚

So if you want to know a little more about me and what I make, read on πŸ˜‰

Meet The Maker (and my person Michiel;)

I am Jess, the person spinning the tales of our lives and adventures into readable form and creating the odd thing too 😏

After getting married, we moved to Europe for 1.5 years, I seen over 18 countries in that time and now we’ve moved back to my hometown where the hubster gave our first home, a huge makeover! We moved into it in December and are now working on the finishing touches, decorating and ‘homing it up’ bit β˜ΊοΈπŸ’• Continue reading “Meet The Maker”

A Prance Through Rebelling Nature

Saturday July 29th –

The sister cooked, I painted and wrote, Mother child reared 😜

The enchiladas Pro had whipped up, were on the menu for a late lunch, so Mike returned from working on our house to join us in eating our ‘once a year’ Mexican meal, always prepared by Pro πŸ˜‹

I made everyone mojitos and we ate out on the deck, enjoying the weather and the fare 😁

We planned on no supper, due to the late lunch and prepared snacks to have while watching a movie that Alaina could enjoy with us/or more so us watch with her, to appease her, as musicals aren’t the all time fave in our household πŸ˜‹

Alas, when we went to play it, it hadn’t actually downloaded, so the whole evening plan was undone πŸ˜πŸ™„

Fledgling Entrepreneur

Thursday June 1st –

The first day of June πŸ’πŸ»πŸ˜
My birthday month and summer weather
πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸŒ³πŸŒΈπŸŽ‚πŸΉπŸ’•β˜€οΈ

Morning began with painting and painting carried over into the afternoon.

I was attempting a galaxy background of sorts and not loving what looked like something my almost two year old niece could have done.
My sister decided to try it too and as Mom came to encourage me and make suggestions she glanced over at the sisters art and this is what she said.
‘But like I said Jess, if you just add in some more colors and let it… oh…’.
The ‘oh’ was said as her eyes fell upon the sisters nicely blended piece.
You’d have had to hear her say it but it was dishearteningly hilarious and we all got a good laugh at it and her obvious lack of non favouritism πŸ˜πŸ˜œπŸ˜‚

Lunch was then served… flakes of ham and chips filled us up and then the sun toasted us.
+31 was the temperature and as we sat outside Alaina asked if it was summer yet.
We figured it was safe to say yes, yes it was now, summer 😏

I prepared stuff for the upcoming garage sale until supper time came around.

Gnocchi and Greek salad were eaten and I used the energy gained, to go rip out the ceiling drywall in the living room at our house, while Mom and Pro walked with the sick baby in town.

I was filthy.
I had no idea so much dirt and grime and who knows what else, could be layered in a ceiling😬
I went thinking I could rip a bit of stuff out and vacuum and maybe just rinse afterwords but, no.
Mom didn’t even want me in the truck for the two minute drive home and I had to shampoo twice to remove all the grime 😬
Too much info? Maybe 😏

Friday June 2nd –

The day began with French toast and that is always a good way to begin a day πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

It then went straight to garage sale prep 😬

I with my cement creations and Mom searching through the basement, packing and asking us girls if we wanted items as she did so.
My house now won’t be as empty as it would have been 😜

Moms friend was coming over so I prepared a juice, using Pro’s (big sisters nick name) suggestion of making some sweet green tea to add to it, to stretch the juice further.

As you probably know, I’m not into the whole juicing for health…but purely for taste 😜
Had the tea not been steeped too long it would have been a good idea but it was a tad bitter.
Good ideas for the next test though πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Mom made us little rice wrap thingies that I had never seen/eaten before and though odd, they were very tasty! 😁

Filled with carrots, cucumbers, crab and sauces, they made tasty little flavour filled bites 😊

Supper was a special occasion (though technically aren’t all suppers? πŸ˜‰πŸ˜œ) as lobster was on the menu!
I like crab more, personally, but the lobster had been flown in fresh from Nova Scotia and after it was prepared with butter and lemon it went down rather smoothly πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Becca had prepared a delicious berry crisp to satisfy our sweet tooth’s and satisfy it did!

It was an average family evening spent with this and that, between the rearing of four kids 😏

Average until Dad heard the robins squawking, went out to see why and found a fledgling in the dogs mouth.

As he saved it and placed it back in the nest, the rest of the siblings decided to fledge too, so there stood Dad amidst a flock of robins, some mad, some freaked out… some pooping on him 😜

One little one took off, awkwardly hopping through the grass, directly towards the bro on the lawn mower!

He quickly turned off the mower, pushed the safety cover over the blades and hit the breaks, his quick actions pretty much saving the life of the dumb little thing… he’s a hero 😏

Back at home it was a late night for me as the brain waves for the sale don’t ever hit when they should and I had ideas to create and fulfill before the next morning πŸ˜‰

‘Bearly’ There Plans

Tuesday May 30th –

The beginning of a hot streak was about to… begin 😜

So we happily prepared ourselves, went to town for some errands (getting paint for my redone vanity project/plants for my concrete creations) and than drove out to a friends house for the day.

We arrived in time for a delicious lunch of chicken taco soup with all the toppings, amazing cornbread that they introduced me to years ago and I still dream of, salad, drinks and more!

It’s sufficed to say, we were stuffed.
But the warmed up, ooey gooey brownie and ice cream with chocolate sauce really pushed me over the edge, from feeling fine to feeling 309 (lb) real fast 😜

We (I) waddled out to the deck, the lounge chairs and sunshine beckoning and the conversation with good friends making the afternoon fly by πŸ’•πŸΉβ˜€οΈπŸ‘

Once as much as could be discussed in one afternoon was gotten out, we departed.

Happier, fuller and hopefully a tad browner, then when we came πŸ˜‹ Continue reading “‘Bearly’ There Plans”

A Weekend Of Feasting And Finding

Friday May 12th –

Posting, writing, sipping coffee, gathering ambition for the day.
‘Twas an average, everyday kind of morning.

Michiel was secret projecting, now known as  ‘working on the house’, so I joined in on that later in the morning and continued off and on throughout the day, between meals and life-ing.

(Rather than the odd picture of house changes here and there, I think it will be best to do some strictly, house reno posts, so watch for those.)

Father was back for the weekend, so everyone was over for a delicious supper Mom had prepared.

I don’t have a picture of this meal… why you ask? Because I was hungry and I ate it too fast…

Moose roast, homemade bread and roasted veggies and it was all extremely tasty and I love not being the one who cooked supper so it can be thoroughly enjoyed instead πŸ˜¬πŸ™ˆπŸ˜ Continue reading “A Weekend Of Feasting And Finding”

Heart Palpitations And Mom Preparations

Saturday Feb 25th –

After an extremely restless night, we heard little girl voices around 6:00 am.
I did what any normal person would do, ignored them and let Mike take care of it since I wouldn’t know what they were saying anywaysπŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ˜œ

Uncle Mike got them some milk, set up a movie and came back to bed πŸ™ˆ

Hey, our place is so small that leaving them unsupervised, is still pretty supervised 😜

Once Mike and I got up, he made the girls eggs, I did their hair and we all headed over to see Oma and Opa and give them a cheesecake I had promised them in trade for the sheepskin rug and rock crystals we now own, thanks to themπŸ˜‰

The cheesecake was dropped off and so began the ‘not best’ of days πŸ˜‹

Amy happened to go missing momentarily (10 ish minutes give or take), though it felt longer. Thankfully she was found quickly and safely… but it was long enough to cause our stomachs to drop and fear to set in 😧😣

Once she was retrieved Mike took us three girls back to the apartment for safer activities πŸ˜‹

Making unicorn horns! πŸ˜πŸ¦„πŸ‘§πŸΌπŸ‘±πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ« Continue reading “Heart Palpitations And Mom Preparations”
