Brushed Nickel And Niece Number 9

Thursday May 18th –

An early start to a town day with Mom began with a stop at a garage sale, with the procedes going towards the building of ‘The Rose Garden Hospice’.

I found some good kitchen containers and some for my cement creations, as well as these super cute glass, things πŸ˜‹

Which after some suggestions and contemplation, I think I will fill with fun, colored sprinkles 😁

On we went, searching for many a house thing, pricing stuff out and looking for ideas amidst other errands.

It’s hard work using that much brain power to think of what color taps and fixtures you want where and what should blend or match or what can mix or what can’t etc. etc 😬

So we stopped for refreshment at Starbucks, getting a cool lime refresher with coconut milk πŸ’šπŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Super simple Starbucks hack, ask for no or less ice and they fill the cup muuuuch more, making the sudden empty space in your pocket feel a tad more justifiedπŸ˜‰

We glanced at the Habitat ReStore to see if they would happen to have enough tile for our bathroom space, but to no avail.

At Michael’s (the place I never shop at without a coupon πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‹) I got some gold paint to hopefully add some alluring detail to my cement crafts and some fairy things for my nieces upcoming birthday.
I’m hoping to get a fairy garden set together for her😊

A jewelry store was stopped at too and if, as a lady you ever reach the point where you feel like you’re ok and don’t need any jewelry, go to a store and that won’t be the case anymore πŸ˜‹ Continue reading “Brushed Nickel And Niece Number 9”

House Renovations – Before/During

So we got this house, knowing it was a fixer upper and needed more than a little bit of work but after Mike tore through it, pulling up floors and breaking walls, it needed more than a little😏😜

(Before)

The uneven slope of the floors aggravated Mike so he went to work pulling up the laminate, the linoleum under that and the plywood… and some of the main floor boards themselves, so that he could try levelling some things out a little and get rid of some of the loudest floor creaks 😬

It went from safe, to ‘proceed with caution’ real quick 😜 Continue reading “House Renovations – Before/During”

Some Of The Loveliest Sights To Behold? Sunshine And Gold

Sunday April 30th –

Going upstairs to get the coffee Sunday morning, I was met by sunshine and blue sky’s pouring through the window and it was a lovely sight to behold 🌀

After a morning sermon, Michiel, Mom, Dad and I headed out for a walk through a hiking/skiing area not too far from the house.

Whoever says Sask. doesn’t have hills is wrong ya know.
No it may not have vast, mountain ranges cutting through the sky but it isn’t just flat for days either 😏
It perhaps wasn’t the prettiest time to go explore there but the weather was great so squint and pretend you see green leaves on the trees if that makes it more appealing for youπŸ˜‹

Signs of spring? Pussy willows and wild crocuses 😊

We finally ended the walk and hunger struck, fresh air having done its thing πŸ˜‹
Mom whipped together some soup (using the veggie pulp broth 😎) and then it was an all around, round of couch naps πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•πŸ˜΄

Father departed late that afternoon, having to drive back to his work site.
It feels odd to be home and yet to not see him, so having him back (to his houseπŸ˜‹) for the weekend had been nice 😊

Jem Moment: A Table For My Treasures

So, ever since I began collecting shells (which I can’t even remember when that was, because I think I always have 😜) I’ve always wondered what exactly I should do with the little, magical treasures washed in from their watery homes?!

Well, a couple of years ago Mother found a display shelf that she bought because it was full of adorable, little bottles and she’d said I could use the shelf for stuff if I wanted… but I was getting ready to move to Europe, so it was put in storage.

Many a trip and very full shell bag later, I was still wondering, what in the world do I do with these abandoned snail/sea creature homes?!

Then, during Mom’s last trip to Holland to come visit us before the move, an old letterpress drawer was found and ‘ding ding ding’!
The lightbulb was lit and I thought hey, I could make this into a coffee table/shell display!

Luckily it JUST fit into our moving crates but upon further inspection here in Canada, I decided to use Mom’s display anyways, because it had larger sections, better for displaying my treasures.

(Now I have to decide what to do with the little drawer πŸ˜‰πŸ˜πŸ€”)

So on Saturday, after a little brain storming the days before and some consultation from the Mom about what she thought the wisest plan of action would be, Michiel and I began the revamp 😁

I wanted to be a part of the building process, not just stand on the side and say what I wanted done (though on occasion yes, I do prefer that position πŸ˜‹) so Mike took the time to teach me what he was doing and why and after a couple of hours, what looked like a coffee table truly appeared! Jem Moment: Home Tour πŸ’•πŸ’πŸ“½

Though we still have the odd photo to hang/item to find a home, the renovations are pretty much completely finished and I (we) figured it was time to show you the whole place all neat and tidy like πŸ˜‰

But first, the before pictures, of course πŸ’πŸ»

Jelly Making And Spa Faking

Monday Oct 24th –

Early morning the birds are pretty fun to watch over atop the other apartment building.

I started my morning from the guest/nap room, taking my coffee to the comfy little corner and reading a little before starting the day πŸ˜Šβ˜•οΈπŸ“š

I read an article in a magazine from my mom and found this piece interesting.
It rings true even if you aren’t a christian, how having an attitude of thankfulness can change how you look at your day/life.
Doesn’t mean I do it enough though πŸ˜”
Just something to try to keep in mind more oftenπŸ˜ŠπŸ’•

Mike was at the office so it was my first day, in my own place, all alone 😁
