Officially Official

Thursday 20th –

Got a blog up quickly and then we went out in search of groceries.

Makro was once again visited (the Costco like store that we went to so we could stock our fridge, freezer and pantry at the start of our marriage).
This time we went for only a few larger items and lunch, though lunch wasn’t that great of a meal 😬

We had multiple others stops and by the time we got to the apartment the trolley was needed to easily haul up our new supply of goodsπŸ˜‹

Mike began work in the guest room.
The bed currently sat at a height that was covering up most of the window so I wanted the bed to be lowered to just below the window, allowing more light, a cozier space with a ledge and still space underneath the bed for some storage 😊

This Home Reno (not) Sponsored By IKEA

Wednesday Oct 12th –

The much sought after and long awaited day finally came, the day we would no longer be homeless vagabonds but have a place to call our ownπŸ‘« 🏠

It was a process that started at 10:30 that morning.
We first went to the apartment to meet the current owners and look over the place one last time.

From there it was a quick drive to the office where terms, agreements, rules etc. would be read, papers signed and keys official handed over πŸ—πŸ—ƒ

But of course things can’t go as smoothly as all that 😏

I already mentioned in the Jem Moment about us getting the apartment that the real estate guy had told us we would need an official translator for me the day papers were signed.
He then later said that no one actually wasn’t required.
We hardly sat down at the office with the realtor and owners before we were told an official, court ordered translator was indeed needed and we couldn’t go on without one 😳

Thaaaankfully there was a way around part of it, allowing us to still get the keys as expected but not having it be officially, 100% OURS until a translator could be present.

Hand shakes, keys handed over and it was (almost) ours!

We drove back to the apartment to look at the color samples I had picked the day before, Mike measured the bedroom with himself to see what size bed would be best πŸ˜‹

The Buying Bug Has Bitten

Tuesday Sept 27th –

After Inge and I enjoyed the breakfast prepared for us by Mike, it was mostly get ready for town and head out.

Mike and I had returns to do and an apartment paper to sign but it turned into a longer outing then expected due in part to walking down a street we don’t normally take and spotting new shops to peak in 😁

One Door Opened And Another Door Closed

Friday Sept 23rd –

The door to fall seemed to finally crack open here, so it was time to break out the new long sleeve shirt and post wedding attending-beach wave, pony tail hair πŸ˜πŸ’•
(Long, overly descriptive sentence I know😝)

Mike and I headed to Arnhem on a mission to find some more clothing for ‘We Nomads’.
And the mission was accomplished πŸ‘«πŸ‘•πŸ›

We managed to find, select and then downsize our selection and make it out of town with a bag full of things to take to the embroidery shop πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»
That much decision making meant we needed some nourishment, found in the form of the very typical, very Dutch fries with mayo and peanut sauce.

After a quick, design/consolation stop at the house, we drove the goods off and now it’s a waiting game until we get the call to pick’em up and send’em out! πŸ˜„

I know it’s not my project, but I must admit I really enjoy the process of it all.
The finding, tweaking designs, writing up information for said products ✍🏻
And Mike is kind enough to indulge my tendency to take over and we worked together whilst sipping our test of the chai tea mix we bought and we will be buying more 😎

(I hope πŸ˜‹)

We went over to Sarah’s to visit her and the girls for a little bit and then it was my lucky night because I got to eat DΓΆner kebab all by myself, no sharing since Mike had already eaten leftover pasta 😏😜

It’s the little things about marriage that you sometimes don’t realize matter, like always having to share all the good food 😝

Saturday Sept 24th –

Brunch was eaten and the next memorable thought was that lunch needed to be found 😜
The human brain, such a wonder and yet ours seem extremely small and mainly food focussed.

We went into town and got kibbeling for lunch and then checked out a new homey/accessory store across the street😊
A few other shops were perused, groceries bought and then back to the car to go check out the second hand store quickly.

But somewhere between groceries and getting to the second hand store, tragedy struck.
Literally.
I closed my head in the car door…
I blame Holland as it has crazy small parking lots, which caused Mike to park in an itsy bitsy space, which made me have to squeeeeze into the car since I wasn’t able to open the door very wide.
Causing it to spring back and be stopped from closing completely, only by my head.

A headache then came along to the second hand store but was momentarily relieved after a find, was found!
An old school desk that needed some TLC and will hopefully be used as a painting/blogging desk once we get into the apartment πŸ˜„

The day before I had spotted a rug in the sale corner of IKEA and I was trying to decide if it was a good color combo with the other colors I was thinking of for the apartment.
I decided it was, (with the help of the mom and sisterπŸ˜‰) but too late πŸ˜”
Sadly, it was sold and all my daydreams about on point decor that I’d had throughout the day were crushed.

Much Ado About Muffin

Wednesday Sept 21st –

Much sitting, laying, writing and picture sorting for that mornings activities.

Ingredients for banana chocolate chip muffins had been picked up the previous day, so those got baked up.
I don’t like banana as a fruit to just eat plain or in ice cream or most desserts, but give me a banana chocolate chip (heavy on the chocolate chip πŸ˜‰) muffin and I’d happily live off them for days.
Also, I’m not a big breakfast eater and only a few things don’t upset my stomach first thing in the day and those muffins are on that listπŸ‘ŒπŸ»
A muffin warmed and slathered with butter?
For breakfast, brunch and everything between?
I’m in!
