A Rejected Proposal, A Tolerated Existence

Friday Feb 17th –

We hadn’t seen Mikes friend Durk since way back at the start of our ‘living in the cottage’ days, so a visit was arranged and he was coming for a breakfast made by Mike that morning.

I asked if I should make something and Mike answered that no, Durk had asked that Mike make the same breakfast he had the last time we hung out 😏
Guess my services are no longer required 😏

Sugar bread French toast was fried up, banana sliced, whipped cream, brown sugar and butter put out and plates happily filled once Durk arrived.

He stayed and visited for a while before continuing on his way and though the visit was short, he and Mike managed to get a lot out 😜

I’d had a bad sleep, so after some writing I went to lay down and the lay down turned into only waking up at 4:30 πŸ˜‹

Mike had some things to check out for the grandparents, so he’d went out to do that and was gone when I awoke.
Which wasn’t a bad thing… every couple needs a little space when the husband is high energy and not currently working 😏😜

Mike made us some salami toasts for supper and then proceeded to beg me to go for a walk.
In the dark.
For no reason πŸ™„ Continue reading “A Rejected Proposal, A Tolerated Existence”

A Tasty Cup Of Sanity… Or Ten… Hundred

If you were to ask my family just how much we love coffee we may not have an answer that we deemed sufficient.

If you were to ask us how much coffee we consumed over three weeks, we would have to take time and thorough thought and consideration, while sipping some coffee to help the brain stimulation.

The answer to really how much we drank?
Lots 😜

(And that’s strong brew, none of that see through, light brown water and also not counting the multiple coffees drank while in town.) Continue reading “A Tasty Cup Of Sanity… Or Ten… Hundred”

Completing (and adding to) The List

Friday Dec 9th –

Nom, nom, nom πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»β˜•οΈπŸ’•

We had some stuff to get done pre Canada and Friday was the day to get it done!

We got ready and then went into Doesburg to get a start at it.
First place we stumbled upon was a new little shop with an assortment of handmade items and there we were able to check an item off the list, which hadn’t even been on the list πŸ˜‹

(Does anyone else write things down on their list just so they can cross it off to feel good about what they got done ? πŸ™ˆ)

I looked around an antique type store while Mike went to get a parking ticket and I found some goodies that needed to leave with us, so when Mike got back we went to buy them but before we could do that he got talking to the owner and she showed him a very old, literally giant-sized, atlas.

It was very cool but not 150 euros cool, specially when Mike doesn’t have his own office and our apartment space is already limited without a giants book in it, no matter how cool πŸ˜‰

So it was left and a linen map from the 1930’s was purchased for him instead πŸ˜‹

Next, Mike showed a store with a super impressive camera collection πŸ˜³πŸ“½πŸ“·

Did You Know Sloths Can Swim?

Wednesday Dec 7th –

Finally got that bacon and egg breakfast made by Mike πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ΄

That morning we got the good news about me being accepted as Mikes sponsor for him to be able to come to Canada eventually.
It was a welcome bit of information and nice to know for sure that they had our stuff and were working on it.
Now they begin work on his paper 😬

We had to leave the apartment around 4:00 to pick up Oma and Opa who were joining us for supper at Judith’s 😊
She prepared the meal requested by Mike, meatballs covered in a tasty tomato and cheese sauce, eaten atop noodles πŸ΄πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Afterwords we went to Wednesday night service and I got to enjoy a sermon in English since a brother from the States was speaking😊

I’d Rather Bond By A Pool πŸ˜

Friday Nov 11 –

Felt worse than ever upon waking up, aching again and a constantly running nose πŸ™„

And we’ve even been eating fruit lately! 😳😜

Yogurt and granola was Mikes breakfast of choice, last of the French toast casserole for me and then we got ready to head to Doesburg.

Farewells had to be said to John and Inge since they were leaving for their holiday, so we went over there for a little bit before doing some errands in town.
We left with food since their fridge had to be emptied so stuff didn’t go bad πŸ˜‹πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

In Doesburg we planned on restocking our coffee bean supply but they were ‘closed due to circumstances’… 😳 Now, I really do hope they weren’t bad circumstances and everything was ok… but what about OUR circumstances?? What are we supposed to do if we run out of their beans, our black gold, java, happy juice, the stuff that lets me PERSON?!β˜•οΈ

I had a gift certificate from Inge to use at a store in Doesburg too, so we went there to take a peek and see if it couldn’t be used 😊

It could be!

Love how lots of stores here wrap stuff cutely in case it’s a gift πŸŽ€πŸ›
