Realizations Of Life

Thursday Sept 21st –

Get up.

Drink coffee, eat a stroopwafel.

Feel bad about not getting back into a healthy eating schedule… but do nothing about it.

Blog.

Art.

Mix up some cement pieces for an order.

Do things on the ‘if you feel like it’ list that Mom left me, with tasks such as ‘clean out the fridges freezer’.

While cleaning out the freezer, I came across some blueberry perogies that looked like they should be eaten.

Then found out they were actually raspberry perogies but that was okay too πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‹

Other list items included ‘pick the ripe tomatoes and transplant plants’.

Afterwords, I convinced myself that since I was slightly a mess from completing the garden stuff, I should work out and make the upcoming shower truly a NEED, not just a ‘probably should’ 😜 Continue reading “Realizations Of Life”

Selling Cookies And Living Off The Land

Monday Aug 14th –

Our last morning at the cabin.

We and the father were shipping out and the bro’s wife and tots were taking our places.

Packing up our belongings and sweeping out the little cabin were the minimal tasks we had to complete and then a few hours of the usual cabin goings on remained until we said our fair-wells and were taken to mainland by the bro.

Before leaving though, Uncle Mike had to help Alaina make a water bottle boat to help entertain her until the cousins arrivedπŸ˜‰

A quick stop in town look for a belt for an event coming up for me and picking up a PALLET of cookies for the husband 😝

It’s official, he’s the cookie man πŸ˜πŸ˜‹πŸ‡³πŸ‡±πŸͺ Continue reading “Selling Cookies And Living Off The Land”

Too ‘Matcha’f A Good Thing

Friday July 7th –

It was time to test the chai pudding 😬

The scent was still there, though possibly a tad less strong… it looked pretty in the cups with the granola and fruit but my hopes were not high.

The first spoonful proved my suspicions πŸ™„

It wasn’t disgustingly repulsive, I just don’t need to EVER eat it again πŸ’πŸ»

The taste was a subtle seaweed like flavouring but for me it was the smell that was the worst…Mom couldn’t stand the color and that was entertaining to me because the color didn’t bother me in the least πŸ˜‹

Anyways… we tried it and now we know 😜

Dad came home from work early and I made us all a snack to hopefully tide us over until that evenings supper.

Mashed avocado with some mayonnaise, salt and pepper for the spread, boiled egg slices on top and a little wee bit of pesto basil sauce on some, hot sauce on others, all eaten on jalapeΓ±o bagels πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Once they were devoured, we were Waskesiu bound! Continue reading “Too ‘Matcha’f A Good Thing”

Concierges Of The House And Grounds

Tuesday June 27th –

The time of sitting around and not doing anything because the ma and pa were away, had come to an end 😎

I decided to make bread.

It was the second time I’ve made bread alone and it wasn’t as daunting as I always seem to think it is (though I almost don’t dare say it, so that Mom doesn’t make me do it more oftenπŸ˜‰).

It did take a good chunk of the morning though, so after everything, including the taste test, was finished up with, I headed outside.

The rock paths needed weeding, some plants watering.

I decided since I was out and messy anyways I’d also clean up the garage a little bit.
Moving some of Mike and my items to the front, so we could haul it to the house next time we went and in doing so, give Mom a little bit of her garage back πŸ˜‰

I got potatoes sliced, soaked and seasoned so that I could try deep-frying them as per Mikes recent requests.

They turned out really well!

(But don’t most deep-fried things? 😜) Continue reading “Concierges Of The House And Grounds”

Parents Gone, Send Food

Sunday June 25th –

Since Mom and Dad were still lake life-ing it up, that meant no Sunday breakfast by Bob.

Resulting in some oh so nutritional, brownieπŸ˜¬πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

We headed off to church and enjoyed a service spoken by a visiting preacher from the states😊

After church, I was lucky enough to receive homemade boterkoek from a dear friend 😘
It seems my friends and family all know how to please me abundantly… with food πŸ™ˆπŸ’•

It served as pre and post lunch filler πŸ˜‰πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Lunch was open-faced flakes of ham sandwiches with picklesπŸ‘ŒπŸ»
Actually a sandwich I really like, even though it sounds kind of pathetic 😜

I napped and Mike went to the house to sand the bathroom countertop.
It dried a nice, light grey color and has a stone ish look to it and we were pretty pleased with the outcome 😊 Continue reading “Parents Gone, Send Food”

Intimidation And Self Motivation

Tuesday May 2nd –

After chowing down on a delicious, egg breakfast sandwich made on a cheese bun (made by Mom of courseπŸ˜‰) I had to call the bank to reset my password (terrors 😳 talking on the phone, and in the morning?!) and then I happily settled into the non talking part of my life.
Writing the blog πŸ˜‹

After which I tried my hand at brush lettering via watercolor and paint brush.

It needed work but not badly enough for me to redo all the place tags (which will go in with the shells in the Coffee table display).
I lack patience if you haven’t picked that up by now 😜

It was a day of new things because I also got to cook my first pork roast πŸ˜‹

With instruction from Mother I seasoned, seared, cooked and made gravy for our supper, with roasted veggies as a side.

It turned out pretty well if I do say so myself😊

Not sure why, but putting the word ‘roast’ in front of meals makes them seem so much more intimidating to me ?? 😬

After supper, Mike and I worked on ‘the secret project’ 😜
Something you’ll be let in on sooner than later but for now it’s a hush-hush situation.
Any guesses what it may be about ?! Haha
