Family And Faux

Friday Sept 1st –

Due to happening of the previous night, which may or may not have included running a red light, getting the flash of the camera and knowing a large fine would be arriving in the mail, I wanted to earn some money 🙄😏

The task assigned to me?
Gardening… 😬

3.5 hours of that later and it was as done as it can be for it only being the beginning of fall but it was more than enough for one morning 😉

Shakespeare (my mint) couldn’t handle summers end and came to his demise… he was a good mint, sometimes 😔

Anyone know how to grow basil and mint, all winter long??! 🤔

It was actually ridiculously hot out considering falls deceptive look of it being a chilly day
🌤🍂🍃

My recovery snack post gardening… another super delicious bran muffin with cheese 😜👌🏻

I truly do like bran muffins, with cheese, so it was a good thing 😉

The father returned home for a visit! Continue reading “Family And Faux”

I’ve Got This Feeling

Wednesday Aug 30th –

Mike and I headed to town so he could again, try to figure out what was wrong with the car and after that try to sell some Cookies.

Which he did both 😏

An all wheel balance cured the car of its major shakes and Family Foods in Prince Albert now stocks stroopwafels! 😄👌🏻

I cleaned and a tip was given and goodness that’s a good feeling 😎
Especially since my last job cashiering offered no tips, ever…and even if it had been offered, we employees ‘were not allowed to accept’ 🙄

After getting back home, I had to figure out a supper plan so I went to the 21 day fix Pinterest board 👍🏻📚

Broccoli and cabbage were stir fried with a marinade and toasted peanuts 👌🏻
Mike grilled the chicken and I made a kind of tomato ish/soya sauce which was less pleasing but alright 😜

I really liked the peanuts added in with the veggies and though I have eaten things like that before in restaurants, it somehow had never occurred to me to add them in on my own.

Thursday Aug 31st –

Another morning of cleaning and then town errands.

Mike required a lock chop (hair cut) before we head to the states, so we searched out a salon for him to try.
While I waited for the deed to be done, I ate my packed, quinoa salad for lunch.
Right beside Dominos Pizza…🙄 Continue reading “I’ve Got This Feeling”

A Cell For Insubordination

Saturday Aug 26th –

After arising and sipping my coffee with cream and sugar, two things I decided I had to continue to allow myself during this two-week eating plan or I would whither away 😜, I did my morning tasks, whatever they were, before heading over to the house to start working on kitchen cupboard fronts with Mike.

He had went there that morning and installed 🎶 da da da daaa🎶 a doorknob on the bathroom door!
Folks, we now have a working and useable commode 😄😜

Mike picked the door knobs and though I admit to being hesitant towards them, I really liked it once installed 😉👌🏻

I took the cupboard fronts outside and began sanding, after which I carried them to the garage, washed them off and then Mike and I taped and plastic wrapped them all, so that the wooden handles could be spray painted gold 😁 Continue reading “A Cell For Insubordination”

Beauty In Many Forms

Thursday Aug 24th –

While I went to work, so did the hubster.

He got the flooring laid down in the bathroom and the vanity back in and I love it! 😄

Besides that, he also worked on building the base for the kitchen cupboards, with our ever helpful neighbour 🛠

By the time I was back from cleaning, it was already later in the afternoon, so after putting our room back to rights (as it had been claimed by the aunt and uncle for their short stay😉) and tidying up, it was nearly supper time.

But supper was being brought back with mother, who had joined the aunt and uncle on their shopping day in the city.

A deliciously seasoned, Costco chicken filled our plates alongside steamed broc and leftover pasta.

The portion thing with this whole ’21 (14) day fix’, isn’t that hard but what is, is so little bread and zero sweets 😩

Bread is beautiful, therefore if I gain weight from an over indulgence of bread, can I be beautiful too?😂

Evening brought with it a massive desire for stroopwafels and instead I looked up ‘healthy dessert’ recipes to try the next day.

(Those two words really don’t belong together🙄)

Farewells, Greetings And Growling Stomachs

Tuesday Aug 22nd –

The last morning with the sister and her fam.😭

And a sad breakfast of a boiled egg and some blueberries on top of that 😜

A small whirl of packing, toy sorting, item relocating, preparing etc. took up most of their remaining time and then the terrible goodbyes had to be said before Mike drove them off to the airport.

Through the farewell tears, the house began getting a fairly large cleaning.
Mom and I going multiple directions to get most of the evidence of kids having been around, gone 😜

We also exercised and had a snack somewhere in between all of the cleaning and laundry and at almost exactly 3:00, the Aunty and Uncle from Ontario arrived!

We visited with them and then supper preparations came under way.

A light lemon oil, basil and pine nut sauce was made to top our shrimp and wild rice pasta along with a little bitty container of cheese.

As we finished supper, the sister (in-law) and her saplings came over for some evening visiting time before we took the Aunt and Uncle over to see our house before it got dark.

(The evenings are getting darker earlier and it’s a very sad thing 😩)

Wednesday Aug 23rd –

The Aunt and Mother arose early enough to complete their workouts before getting ready and heading into town for a day of girls shopping.

I did no such thing 😜

Getting up and having to measure out breakfast portions and make a lunch according to the leftover portions, seemed like enough physical strain for one morning 😉

I defaulted to the Sommerset Rice Bowl and once we were all ready, off to town we went.

The farmers market was the first stop and mom got some micro greens from Pacsa.
On the first pass by them, I hadn’t noticed they were also selling naturally flavoured and sweetened lemonade, coming in raspberry, strawberry rhubarb and peach varieties ☺️👌🏻

So as we left and walked by again, they were noticed and readily bought.

The bottles were a little differently shaped then your average plastic bottle, adding in a little cutsie factor, along with the delicious flavours we found inside! 😄💕🍋🍓🍑

I had to pick up some paint for the house trims, since a grey was chosen and while there, I of course glanced at the wall of color squares 😁

I want ombré teal/mint ish stairs rather a lot 😎

It was then on to some clothes shopping and Nike, I love you, but could you just be a little less expensive or have more sales? 😩

I found the perfect fitting, lightweight, soft, grey sweater that would have made me happy for much time… but the price tag also would have hurt for much time 🙄

Why you make such pricey clothes?! 🤷🏻‍♀️

It was pretty sad walking past Canadian Tire’s burger stand and smelling glorious things 😬
I had thought being busy in town would make eating less/healthier, easier.
Being busy and going from place to place and all but instead I found it harder.
More smells and sights and man, oh, man why did I agree to commit to two weeks of this 21 (14) day fix thing 😂

We finally returned home, all tuckered out from shopping and needing coffee (or tea if you’re my aunt who has life going for her until you get to that whole ‘tea’ bit 😏😜).

Eventually everything was put away, supper prepared and portions dished out.
Us girls complaining of soreness and the guys complaining about hearing about it 😜

The evening was then spent visiting more until it was time…time to trade massages with my aunt, who just so happens to be an esthetician as well as giving relaxation massage treatments 😍
Having an aunt, who just so happens to be one of, if not the best, massage givers, is pretty awesome 😎👌🏻

So the rest of my evening then passed in a relaxed daze🤤

(During our day of shopping, the hubster and uncle had worked on our house, Mike being very pleased to have someone around who knows things about electricity 😏💡)

Somewhat New Beginnings

Sunday Aug 20th –

We had a companion with us on our usually, very quiet Sunday morning drive.

A sprout with a recent interest in learning to spell and that morning was no exception, though it was ‘Uncle Mikes’ language that she was wanting to write.

So our morning was filled with ‘What’s that letter again? What next? What’s that say? Is this right?’ 😜

Until we said no more spelling and the rest of the drive passed with light, background singing from said sprout 😏

Lunch was planned and prepared by the bro and after church we all gathered there to eat steak, crab, garlic toast, cucumber salad and shrimp 🍴

Before we got there for lunch though, we had to make a deal with the sprout 😎

We were only minutes away from town and she hadn’t stopped talking during the ride BACK from church, so Mike told her that if she could stay  quiet until we got to town, she would get birthday cake Timbits 😜
The rules were foggy to her for the first couple of seconds and then she grasped the notion and surprisingly enough, she didn’t utter another peep until we said she could! 😂

The hubster and bro-in-law headed over to our place after lunch to get the first coat of white paint on and then the dad left to go back to working away from home, having to bid his adieu’s to the visiting ones 😔💕
