We Came, We Saw, We Left Frozen

Thursday Jan 11th

(Winnipeg trip day #2 recap)

Ikea.

The place that overwhelms and gives a person far too many ideas to process at one time 😉

That was our main stop of the day, knowing all would take a while to get through the oversized store of mainly undersized home pieces;)

We lunched there too and I couldn’t have been happier with my meatballs, veggies and gravy for FOUR DOLLARS 😳 😆👌🏻

I loved this idea of adding some simple details that majorly class up the look of a white wall. Continue reading “We Came, We Saw, We Left Frozen”

Hartelijk Bedankt Opa

(Title in english: Heartfelt Thanks To Opa)

Friday Oct 14th –

Breakfast, IKEA for a bed frame Inge had spotted for us in the sale corner, Gamma for paint, apartment.

We needed paint for the bed frame as it was going to go from gray ish to gold 😉👌🏻

We hauled up another cart full, including our two chandeliers!

So happy we can finally utilize them 😄

Oma and Opa stopped by to check out our little place and then a bit later Opa returned to help us out with electrical stuff and some fixer upping that had to happen.

The guy who lived there before us, reeeeeally liked to pretend he was a good handy man.
Wires were hidden with plastic covers, going multiple directions, (what he considered) nifty little boxes built to hide things when really it just made it look more tacky, odd placements and lots of glue, the list could go on 😟

It was Opa’s brilliant idea to get rid of the grey boards/cupboard space the same guy had built above the actual kitchen cupboards.
I knew I wouldn’t use them but I never would have thought of removing them myself.

Wednesday Oct 12th –

The much sought after and long awaited day finally came, the day we would no longer be homeless vagabonds but have a place to call our own👫 🏠

It was a process that started at 10:30 that morning.
We first went to the apartment to meet the current owners and look over the place one last time.

From there it was a quick drive to the office where terms, agreements, rules etc. would be read, papers signed and keys official handed over 🗝🗃

But of course things can’t go as smoothly as all that 😏

I already mentioned in the Jem Moment about us getting the apartment that the real estate guy had told us we would need an official translator for me the day papers were signed.
He then later said that no one actually wasn’t required.
We hardly sat down at the office with the realtor and owners before we were told an official, court ordered translator was indeed needed and we couldn’t go on without one 😳

Thaaaankfully there was a way around part of it, allowing us to still get the keys as expected but not having it be officially, 100% OURS until a translator could be present.

Hand shakes, keys handed over and it was (almost) ours!

We drove back to the apartment to look at the color samples I had picked the day before, Mike measured the bedroom with himself to see what size bed would be best 😋

Title Not Forthcoming

Thursday Sept 29th –

Breakfast was some warmed up to perfection, poppy seed bread ❤️

It’s such a sad thing finding a food to love actually.
It’s something to be enjoyed and dreamt of forever after, always thought of fondly and with a watering mouth, but nothing else even slightly similar will ever be as satisfying!
