Wow…

Friday Sept 29th –

After a rude awaking from the husband to start the day off right, (wrong πŸ˜’) he and I headed over to our house to begin a day of the large and small tasks that lead us ever closer to completion.

Some days I go there and I’m like, ‘wow it’s so close to being done actually!’ and other days, I look around and think ‘wow… so much still has to be done…’ 😜

And I haven’t even hardly done any of it πŸ™ˆπŸ’πŸ»

We built the second dresser for our bedroom and Mike got that squished into place before starting the preparations for the bedroom for flooring.

I went to work washing out more window sills and then a painting station was set up so that I could start turning our trim, grey.

Mike found us a second hand bed frame from the habitat store, so I also sanded that to have it ready to paint, when I was.

Mike got most of the master bedroom floored and then we ran out of flooring so we headed home for supper.

The bro who was in town, was a champ and picked us up the remaining boxes we would need to finish upstairs the next day.

Or as Michiel has no idea of what the word ‘patience’ means, he finished the whole upstairs, that night 😏

Some Of The Family Favourites And Favourite Families

Friday May 26th –

As usual, the day, post airport is a lazy day to be had by all, no matter who were the ones that had arrived or done the picking up.

Eventually cinnamon buns were heated up for breakfast and they were oh so tasty, being their buttery best selves πŸ’•πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ΄

Later in the day, Becca and her saplings arrived so they could all be seen but most anticipation was probably directed towards those who were making baby Sarah’s acquaintance for the first time πŸ˜‰

A small house tour was given to the sister and besides that, not a whole lot was done that dreary skied, first day but that’s alright because being together was entertainment enoughπŸ˜‹

Jem Moment of the day, (besides having the sister home AND the dad who newly returned from his working away stintπŸ˜‰) Chinese food for supper 😍🍴 Continue reading “Some Of The Family Favourites And Favourite Families”

Phobias and Philias

Sunday March 5th –

I crawled out of bed in hopes of being able to enjoy my coffee outside, but it was a chilly, albeit very pretty morning.

Coffee was enjoyed from inside, looking outsideπŸ˜‰πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

The house was STILL cold.
Mike called the owners and as it turns out, the air conditioner was also the heating system, so we needed to have that turned on πŸ™„
Not long after learning that information and putting it to use, a few bursts of heated air began to be felt and it was lovely 😬

Eggs and bacon were considered for breakfast but Mom and Mike couldn’t get the stove started so instead we all began getting ourselves ready to go out.

The actual owner stopped by for a few moments and told us a few more tips and tricks about the place and suggested a place for us to try breakfast.
We hoped it was better than his daughters suggestion the night before πŸ™ˆ

Off to ‘Mojo’s‘ we went.

It was a little, local restaurant/cafe with a bit of a tropical feel. Retro car wall murals, green table tops and seat cushions and cherry colored woods making up the decor.
I decided to be a little adventurous, ordering a sweet chili and quinoa wrap for breakfast, since when else but when traveling does one get to try new foods? Continue reading “Phobias and Philias”

A Rejected Proposal, A Tolerated Existence

Friday Feb 17th –

We hadn’t seen Mikes friend Durk since way back at the start of our ‘living in the cottage’ days, so a visit was arranged and he was coming for a breakfast made by Mike that morning.

I asked if I should make something and Mike answered that no, Durk had asked that Mike make the same breakfast he had the last time we hung out 😏
Guess my services are no longer required 😏

Sugar bread French toast was fried up, banana sliced, whipped cream, brown sugar and butter put out and plates happily filled once Durk arrived.

He stayed and visited for a while before continuing on his way and though the visit was short, he and Mike managed to get a lot out 😜

I’d had a bad sleep, so after some writing I went to lay down and the lay down turned into only waking up at 4:30 πŸ˜‹

Mike had some things to check out for the grandparents, so he’d went out to do that and was gone when I awoke.
Which wasn’t a bad thing… every couple needs a little space when the husband is high energy and not currently working 😏😜

Mike made us some salami toasts for supper and then proceeded to beg me to go for a walk.
In the dark.
For no reason πŸ™„ Continue reading “A Rejected Proposal, A Tolerated Existence”

Felines Aren’t Meant For Flying

Wednesday Feb 15th –

Michiel has taken second hand cars on as his pass time and much of his Wednesday was spent buying cleaning supplies, cleaning, getting papers, speaking to buyers etc.

I had an idea to try creating a little something for the nieces and nephew for a going away gift once Mike and I move, so I began that after the creating juice was drank (coffee, obviously).
I Continued to work on it for most of the day, taking a short cheese and cracker break to keep the energy up.

For now it’s a surprise project, but if anyone has good ideas to give young kids when you move away, (preferably Canada themed) please let me know!

I needed a stretch from sitting so long in my favourite ‘awful for the knees’ postion of having my legs bent underneath me.
So I decided to get up and go through a dresser to get a head start on some of the sorting that will need doing come ‘the move’.
Stuff got shifted around, things were thrown out and others moved to the ‘to give away’ piles.
It felt good to clean out some things but it also made me realize that we don’t actually have all that much to get rid of 😜

After that I had to get the house tidied and biscuits mixed to go with the soup we were having for supper with John and Inge. Continue reading “Felines Aren’t Meant For Flying”
