Too ‘Matcha’f A Good Thing

Friday July 7th –

It was time to test the chai pudding 😬

The scent was still there, though possibly a tad less strong… it looked pretty in the cups with the granola and fruit but my hopes were not high.

The first spoonful proved my suspicions πŸ™„

It wasn’t disgustingly repulsive, I just don’t need to EVER eat it again πŸ’πŸ»

The taste was a subtle seaweed like flavouring but for me it was the smell that was the worst…Mom couldn’t stand the color and that was entertaining to me because the color didn’t bother me in the least πŸ˜‹

Anyways… we tried it and now we know 😜

Dad came home from work early and I made us all a snack to hopefully tide us over until that evenings supper.

Mashed avocado with some mayonnaise, salt and pepper for the spread, boiled egg slices on top and a little wee bit of pesto basil sauce on some, hot sauce on others, all eaten on jalapeΓ±o bagels πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Once they were devoured, we were Waskesiu bound! Continue reading “Too ‘Matcha’f A Good Thing”

Limited Abilities And My Dad, The Hitchhiker

Wednesday July 5th –

It was a hot day ahead, so I went out late morning to do some watering of Moms gardens.

I don’t like watering, or weeding or gardens.

I’m for sure more of a ‘couple’ house plants kind of person πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Mike needed lunch at the house and said there was stuff for me to do there once I delivered it.

In the spirit of using up leftovers and being healthy-ish… I made us lettuce wraps with rice, chicken, shredded carrots, sunflower seeds and peanut sauce πŸ₯—

And ya know what? They were actually super tasty and filling! πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ˜Ž

Once at the house I had to load all the drywall we’d been ripping out and piling in our shed, into another rental garbage bin we had gotten.

Once said shed was empty of drywall, I got to refill it with scrap wood 😜

It was over an hour of doing that and while I hauled scraps, Mike and our neighbour got some of the first pieces of drywall up in our kitchen ceilingπŸ‘ŒπŸ»

I left, as my abilities were not helpful ones at that point in the building process 😬

At home I mixed up some cement pieces for an order and then went outside to enjoy the rest of the day’s sunshine β˜€οΈ

I made us all mojito’s to go with the pulled pork sandwiches Mom made everyone for supper.

(I’ll try to make a bit of a recipe for the mojito’s but I always make stuff good once, without any kind of measurements and then can never duplicate it😜 )

Not too late into the evening we all retired to the cool basement to snack and watch a show.

Anyone have suggestions for clean, interesting movie series to watch now and then as a family? 😁

Mike then had to pack, as he was headed to Toronto early the next morning for some business 😎

Thursday July 6th –

Cleaning day…

That’s kind of what every Thursday from now on will become so I may just start skipping writing about them 😜

Mike had left for the airport at 3:00 am that morning, going to be in Toronto until Saturday night.

As I drove to work, there was what looked like a hitchhiker, waving me down from beside the highway.
I thought to myself… that hitchhiker… kind of looks like my dad πŸ€”

As I got closer and the waving became more drastic, he was indeed identified as my father and I pulled over 😜

He came up to the vehicle and deposited a small handful of wild strawberries he’d just picked, into my hand and then we went our ways πŸ˜ŠπŸ“β€οΈ

A sweet, unexpected, pre work snack for meπŸ˜‰

I cleaned for the next four or so hours and then drove back home.

Supper was a rice and veggie stir fry with shrimp πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ€πŸŒΆπŸ₯•πŸš

It’s just veggies of choice, fried and mixed with one can of mushroom soup and oyster sauce, seasoned with salt and paper, eaten over rice.

Easy, fairly healthy and tasty 😊

Mom had bought ‘Matcha’ to try so I looked up a recipe for overnight, Matcha chai pudding.

Upon opening the container, a reeking oder that smelled like gnarly fish to me, wafted to my nose.
Mom thought it just smelt like stinky seaweed.

Either way it wasn’t an appetizing smell and google told me that if your Matcha smells that’s way, it’s a low quality πŸ™„

Morning would tell if the taste was any better😎
