One Year In Our Forever

Another anniversary to add to the books…
Today marks it being one year since Michiel and I moved to Saskatchewan!
How time flies… I guess because most of said year has been winter, maybe it feels like it’s just been one season, thus it can’t have been one year 😜

Michiel has been a champ… I can say I know what it’s like to move away from ones home but NOT while moving to a place with 6-7 months of winter and having to renovate an entire house by myself, while also supporting a spouse 😬

Let’s be real, we are married, we’ve moved, we’ve both left our families at some point, made changes for and with each other, transformed a house and dealt with drastic lifestyle changes.
There has been a fair share of tension now and again and that is only normal considering the above details πŸ€ͺ

Furnishings And Flavoured Lessons

Friday Dec 8th –

After a restless first night at our place, which isn’t a rare form of sleep for me, anywhere, I got up to release the kittens from the pantry, because that’s where kittens are to be kept don’t you know? 😜

How I love the energetic tumbling and purring that come from them after not seeing you for a while πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

They made my morning blogging start slowly, proving to be pretty entertaining distractions😏

Mike did some work and I tried to tidy a few things before we headed over to moms.
We needed food and showers as those were items still currently unavailable at our own place 😜

I quickly made a coconut pie while there.
Needing to get theΒ pie testing finished and photographed so I could make the poster to go up in town, if I still wanted to try selling any before Christmas.

We ate brunch made by Mom and then the three of us went to Saskatoon.
Mike had to do stuff with the work vehicle and Costco and Homesense needed looking through 😏

I say looking but I mean touching and purchasing 😜 Continue reading “Furnishings And Flavoured Lessons”

Monumental Findings And Moments

Wednesday Dec 6th –

I excitedly worked on the home reveal blog post that morning, looking forward to seeing what everyone had to say about it πŸ˜‰

Then went into town to look at a kitten and clean a house.
The kitten was obviously accepted and an arrangement made to pick her up the next day 😏

I cleaned for over four hours, making up for time missed while I’d been away.
You never think of how sore hands can get from wringing out a cloth, until after doing it so repetitively 😜

After supper, Mike and I went to our place which needed re-cleaning all the time and little things which needed doing, never seeming to end πŸ˜‰
Mike and the bro got the light in our stairwell working and it looks πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ’•

Our European lights aren’t seeming to work correctly here 😬
The living room chandelier shines so dull that it’s purely for looks and the stairwell light needed a totally new inside piece before it would even turn on.
Fingers crossed something will work out to use our kitchen chandelier 😩

Again And Again

Monday Dec 4th –

After I made us someΒ French Omeletes for breakfast, Mike and I went to our place to work on getting it completed.

Cleaning, cleaning again, moving stuff, painting small things, moving the same things again etc., filled the day.
Mike worked on patching the trim for the most part and a list of what was required to still buy pre move-in was started.

And that is how our day was spent πŸ’πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Mom had hamburger steaks prepared for our supper and then the parents and Mike were off to pickle ball 😏

Tuesday Dec 5th –

French omeletes made again, mostly because Mom had tried a bite the morning before and requested her own for that morning πŸ˜‰
And then back to the house, again. Continue reading “Again And Again”

Savouring The Blessings

Wednesday Oct 25th –

Painting out an idea I had the evening before was how my morning began 😊

Then I packed up more of the boxes, art, furniture etc. and Mother and I headed to my place to work on some more trim and finishing bits until later that afternoon.

As I packed up a trunk, Rolo decided she would like to be in on the moving process 😜

While we worked… the first snowfall began to lightly cover the ground πŸ˜β„οΈ

My friend came over that evening since our schedules finally aligned and since she arrived later in the day, we said we would have to stay up late to make up for it.

Come 9:00 pm, the yawns we’re hitting fast and hard and our conversation began to lull πŸ˜‚

So, to counteract our age, we did some stretches and a little bitty, yet very awful, ab workout… and then went and got ice cream and popcorn for our newly awakened selves to snack on 😜

Life is all about balance right ? πŸ’πŸ»

With our strength and appetite replenished, we managed to stay up until 2:00 am πŸ˜‰

Thanks-versary

Monday Oct 9th –

Happy thanksgiving-anniversary! πŸ˜πŸ’•πŸ΄

Really, perfect timing because when else would you get turkey, stuffing, roasted veggies, buns, steak, scalloped potatoes, gravy and cranberry sauce, for a two year anniversary meal?? πŸ’πŸ»

And that isn’t even counting the desserts 😏

Mom put out a splendid spread and our guests/pretty much second family, arrived to enjoy it with us, just past noon ☺️

We sat down and stuffed ourselves.

It was delicious and I know MY gut protested, all while my eyes took over filling my plate for the second time πŸ™ˆ

Michiel and I were gifted with our first, potted houseplant and the fuchsia petals and pink veined leaves will be happily displayed come move in time πŸ˜‰πŸ’• Continue reading “Thanks-versary”
