Non Glamorous Goings-On

Thursday Nov 2nd –

Coffee was delivered to me in bed… a nice side effect of the husband having a home office dayβ˜•οΈπŸ˜

He went to our place to work and I prepared us some lunch to be toasted up later, worked out and readied myself for a trip into town later that day.

Lunch was just some ham wraps with peppers, mustard, mayo and some seasonings but once toasted, I really enjoyed it ☺️

I went with him back to OUR house, to blog and since he got the only room with a chair for his work space… I got a trunk and cardboard box in the kitchen to call mine  πŸ˜œ

Supper was the ‘Peanut Chicken and Zucchini Noodles’ recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction again…and again, I advise you to try it for yourselves πŸ˜„πŸ΄

The Perfect Four Words

Friday Oct 27th –

”Twas a town day once again and grocery buying, my job cleaning, curtain rod price comparing and toilet brush buying were the things most needed to be accomplished πŸ˜‰

Oh the glamour of new home ownership purchases 😜

Pizza was brought home for supper aaand that was pretty much my day πŸ’πŸ»

Little And Less

Tuesday Oct 3rd –

If I don’t keep up with writing, I remember nothing πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I know I worked out (trying to get back into after the trip to Az ruined meπŸ™„) and Mike worked at the house, putting up some more trim and what not.

He checked the mail and the wedding photo albums for our mothers had arrived and they looked great, so we happily awaited ours, which would be slightly larger πŸ’‘πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ“š

Wednesday Oct 4th –

Michiel had work to do with the bush business and Mother was out and about, so I had the house to myself and things to accomplish. Continue reading “Little And Less”

Canadian Living Pasta

Now as far as a recipe post goes, this is ridiculously easy as it’s just the link to the recipe 😜

I would have posted it sooner but for some reason I couldn’t find it on Canadian Living’s site, but now I have and I urge you to go try it πŸ˜„

RECIPE LINK HERE:

Personal Suggestions

For a healthy tweak, I would cut the required oil in half and instead of combining the pasta, sauce and cheese (we used Asiago) in one pot as suggested, just spoon the sauce over each portion.

We enjoyed it with the suggested shrimp and I also added in 1/4 cup of pine nuts into the sauce, and loved the extra crunch.

This seriously became a fast favourite and I have already made it at least 5 times in a couple months πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ» 🍝

Thoughtful Thursday And Fabulous Aunt Friday

Thursday May 4th –

The day began with a look at the forecast, which in turn, made the day begin on a cheerful note and then with a glance at the calendar came the realization that we’d been in Canada almost one month already 😳

Time flies when you’re home πŸ˜‹

It didn’t take long for me to head outside, the sunshine calling but the whole ‘yard work’ thing already growing old 😜
I did move some rock piles and pull some weeds before taking a break to write outside in the lovely spring air πŸŒ€πŸŒ±πŸ“±

Back inside I had chicken to make soup out of and a supper to think of, since Mike was ‘souped out’… typical guy πŸ™„πŸ˜œ
(Yes, I too can become sick of one food if it’s eaten too many times in a row, but if someone is thinking of, cooking and cleaning up from a meal, I’m not going to complain that it’s once again soup 😏)

So, wanting to try something different I made up a creamy , lemon rice and chicken soup and while that simmered, I worked on a pasta sauce for supper.

The day passed amidst sunshine soaking until Mom returned and we shared a coffee (no,we didn’t share one coffee, that would be crazy) on the deck, telling of our days events… or lack there of in my case πŸ˜‹

Michiel returned from work and brought me a container of raspberries πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•

Which is kind of funny because just earlier I’d been thinking (due to conversations had recently etc) about what gifts I liked most from him.
Knowing flowers wasn’t up there on my priority list and then thinking food was probably the easiest to pick and the most enjoyed πŸ™ˆ

Low and behold, he got the vibes 😜

Mom had returned with a gift for me as well…
Cleaning supplies! πŸ˜‚ Continue reading “Thoughtful Thursday And Fabulous Aunt Friday”

Aντίο Greece!

Saturday Oct 9th –

We took a taxi from the hotel to the airport around 9:00 am and prepared for our farewell to Greece.

One last cheese pie was eaten while we waited and some feta purchased just in case it wasn’t as easy to find once we were back in Holland.

Greece will be missedπŸ’™
We had a fantastic time, lovely weather, delicious food and beautiful scenery and friendly people.
It was for sure one of the higher ranked places I’ve been… in my humble, non relevant opinionπŸ˜‰

Our journey around the island can be seen in black πŸ—Ί ✍🏻

And a random mention here since I forgot to mention/show it earlier, places in Greece had the cutest receipts πŸ˜„πŸ’•

Our flight left and three hours and a time change later we got back into Amsterdam around 1:00 pm, shuttled to the car, drove through McDonald’s and drove back to Doesburg where we had no time to rest and recuperate as a baby shower had to be gone to!

We literally dropped our bags, showered, changed, got ready, repacked, wrapped the gift and hit the road for another hour-long drive to Germany.

πŸ‘ΆπŸΌπŸΌ It was the baby shower for our soon to arrive, newest niece or nephew and it was set up by a sister from church.
She did a lovely job and the food was deliciousπŸ˜‰

Cause that’s what matters at a baby shower right? πŸ˜‹

My evening was spent there and Mikes was spent with the men whose wives were at the baby shower also.
He was playing tennis, eating and enjoying his 6 hours of freedom I assume 😏

He and I then spent the night at Judith’s 😊

Sunday Oct 9th –

The 1st anniversary of Michiel and my wedding πŸ˜πŸ’•πŸ’πŸŽ‚

How can one year go by so quickly ??

I told Mike we should add up the days we were traveling to see how much of the year really counted as ‘real life’ 😏

We had breakfast with Judith and the family and then headed off to church.

It’s for sure taken a chillier turn now weather wise and I’m glad I’ll be getting my warmer clothes unpacked soon 😁

Our anniversary may have been spent with others and not really romantic but considering we just got back from Greece annnnnd got to eat my favourite pasta at Vapianos, it was alright πŸ˜πŸ˜‹πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Though I’m pretty disappointed in Vapianos… they cut the portion sizes down, who even does that! πŸ™„πŸ™πŸ»

We went back to Judith’s to spend the rest of the afternoon, chatting, lounging and eventually munching on some tasty waffles she whipped up 😊
