A Desk Do Over

A ‘do it yourself’ that I supposedly didn’t really ‘do much to’ myself, according to Mike πŸ€ͺ
But none the less, I wanted to take you through the process of my finally getting a desk for my craft room!

We found this table at the Mac house and I was immediately taken with it 😍
I love the unique legs and the fact that I can use the table as one larger square table or as two smaller ones.

I started off by sanding it down and washing them. Continue reading “A Desk Do Over”

Monumental Findings And Moments

Wednesday Dec 6th –

I excitedly worked on the home reveal blog post that morning, looking forward to seeing what everyone had to say about it πŸ˜‰

Then went into town to look at a kitten and clean a house.
The kitten was obviously accepted and an arrangement made to pick her up the next day 😏

I cleaned for over four hours, making up for time missed while I’d been away.
You never think of how sore hands can get from wringing out a cloth, until after doing it so repetitively 😜

After supper, Mike and I went to our place which needed re-cleaning all the time and little things which needed doing, never seeming to end πŸ˜‰
Mike and the bro got the light in our stairwell working and it looks πŸ‘ŒπŸ»πŸ’•

Our European lights aren’t seeming to work correctly here 😬
The living room chandelier shines so dull that it’s purely for looks and the stairwell light needed a totally new inside piece before it would even turn on.
Fingers crossed something will work out to use our kitchen chandelier 😩

Wow…

Friday Sept 29th –

After a rude awaking from the husband to start the day off right, (wrong πŸ˜’) he and I headed over to our house to begin a day of the large and small tasks that lead us ever closer to completion.

Some days I go there and I’m like, ‘wow it’s so close to being done actually!’ and other days, I look around and think ‘wow… so much still has to be done…’ 😜

And I haven’t even hardly done any of it πŸ™ˆπŸ’πŸ»

We built the second dresser for our bedroom and Mike got that squished into place before starting the preparations for the bedroom for flooring.

I went to work washing out more window sills and then a painting station was set up so that I could start turning our trim, grey.

Mike found us a second hand bed frame from the habitat store, so I also sanded that to have it ready to paint, when I was.

Mike got most of the master bedroom floored and then we ran out of flooring so we headed home for supper.

The bro who was in town, was a champ and picked us up the remaining boxes we would need to finish upstairs the next day.

Or as Michiel has no idea of what the word ‘patience’ means, he finished the whole upstairs, that night 😏

Unfortunate Witnesses And Deep Contemplation

Friday Aug 4th –

The Mom and Sister had been painting up some color charts and the layout of little, brightly painted squares looked appealing so I joined in 😏🎨

(Mom may or may not have drawn out both the sister and I’s graphs πŸ™ˆ)

After that, company was due to arrive so table was set and lunch prepared.
Well, Mom had already prepared it all so it was heated and laid out, hot, summer borscht soup and fresh, seed filled bread πŸ˜πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Mike joined us, as he’d been working at the house and he arrived moments after a can of pop had burst in the hallway closet 😏
Pop upon the ceiling, walls, drawers and contents of said drawers 😬

I got out of cleaning that, by going and cleaning a freshly plucked plant that the babies had decided, needed a pot no longer 😜 Continue reading “Unfortunate Witnesses And Deep Contemplation”

Jem Moment: Pinterest Dream Becomes Reality

Michiel gave me the disheartening news that the grey couch I liked at Jysk, was no longer.
So I had glanced online to see if anyone happened to be selling anything that would work for us.

First, I spotted a ‘kidney’ couch, in good shape and for only $50, which we considered unique and well priced enough to look into the cost of re-upholstering.

$1200, plus material, was the estimate we received back and that was more than I was willing to put towards a couch that was not only used, but not my dream couch 😏

So, I kept scanning, looking at the listing for the larger city until finally deciding I might as well peak in the town 20 minutes away from us, though it usually didn’t hold as much.

This is the first thing that caught my eye after one little scroll of the thumb… 😍 Continue reading “Jem Moment: Pinterest Dream Becomes Reality”

Some Of The Loveliest Sights To Behold? Sunshine And Gold

Sunday April 30th –

Going upstairs to get the coffee Sunday morning, I was met by sunshine and blue sky’s pouring through the window and it was a lovely sight to behold 🌀

After a morning sermon, Michiel, Mom, Dad and I headed out for a walk through a hiking/skiing area not too far from the house.

Whoever says Sask. doesn’t have hills is wrong ya know.
No it may not have vast, mountain ranges cutting through the sky but it isn’t just flat for days either 😏
It perhaps wasn’t the prettiest time to go explore there but the weather was great so squint and pretend you see green leaves on the trees if that makes it more appealing for youπŸ˜‹

Signs of spring? Pussy willows and wild crocuses 😊

We finally ended the walk and hunger struck, fresh air having done its thing πŸ˜‹
Mom whipped together some soup (using the veggie pulp broth 😎) and then it was an all around, round of couch naps πŸ˜ŠπŸ’•πŸ˜΄

Father departed late that afternoon, having to drive back to his work site.
It feels odd to be home and yet to not see him, so having him back (to his houseπŸ˜‹) for the weekend had been nice 😊
